INTERNATIONAL MARKET: This baby is not just crawling, it is running. DIRECTV will launch a 4-hour BabyTV block in Argentina, Central America, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela. With these deals, the under 3-focused channel will be available to over 11 million Latin American subscribers. The international premiere rights outside of the U.K. to Long Way Down have been acquired by National Geographic Channels International from Big Earth Productions and Elixir Films. The 10-episode adventure travel show with Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman will make its debut on National Geographic Channel and Nat Geo Adventure this month. CABLEready brought in Central and Eastern European deals ahead of the DISCOP market.
Endemol will be going in to DISCOP with several Eastern European deals already under its belt. Bulgaria's Nova Television Plus took Big Brother (season 4), Croatia's RTL has Love Letters and Romania's Kanal D grabs Divided and I Love My Country, both from Talpa Media. TVR in Romania ordered a season of the Performing As format. Other deals include Hungary's TV2 with Divided, Macedonia's TV Skopje for Deal or No Deal and Ukraine's New Channel for Operacion Triunfo (season 2). The Koala Brothers is part of the U.K.'s Spellbound Entertainment new broadcast agreement with BBC Worldwide Channels to bring CBeebies to Africa, Asia Pacific and Poland later in 2008. The preschool series will head over with 78x10 minute episodes and a 46-minute Christmas Special titled The Koala Brothers Outback Christmas. Tigress Productions completed filming on a new high-def natural history documentary for the U.K.'s BBC Two and the U.S.' WNET. The 60-minute Titus - The Gorilla King follows the story of one of the most successful mountain gorillas ever, a large silverback called Titus. It is scheduled to debut on BBC Two later in 2008 in its Natural World series. Toei Animation's Digimon Data Squad and Dragonball GT animated series are returning to Germany's RTL2. The channel picked up a 48x30-minute run of Digimon Data Squad and 64x30-minutes of Dragonball GT. In Canada, The Comedy Network will make quite a few debut splashes this summer starting with Mike Birbiglia: What I Should Have Said Was Nothing on July 5 at 10p, followed by a new season of Tom Green's House Tonight airing Mondays-Thursdays at 1030p (July 7 debut), Zach Galifianakis: Live (July 12 at 10p) and Stephen Wright: When the Leaves Blow Away on July 19 at 10p. CROSS-MARKET: Get ready for Father's Day this weekend with a special Gospel Music Channel event starting today at 730p with nightly episodes of its Faith & Fame series. Morgyn Sallie's father Nate Sallie will be the first subject. HISPANIC MARKET: On June 22 at 7p, TeleFutura will present Famosos al Descubierto (Celebrities Exposed), a special looking at celebs' beauty secrets and the procedures they underwent to achieve their looks. June 8's Rumbo al Mundial Mexico vs. Peru telecast on Telemundo delivered a record rating performance in Sunday primetime for the network, bringing it into the #1 Spanish-language network spot for that night among A18-49, M18-49, A18-34 and M18-34. According to Nielsen's NHSI ratings, the primetime average audience for A18-49 was 865,000 with a 39% share while the match itself has 1,205,000 A18-49.
