INTERNATIONAL - TODAY'S TOP STORY:
The rumors circulating over
the last few days have turned out to have some bite. Terry Semel,
the former Yahoo and Warner Bros. header, is gathering financial backing
to make a possible bid on the U.K.'s IMG Media. The company, which
focuses on entertainment and sports, owns Tiger Aspect, TWI and Darlow
Smithson as well as other units in the marketing and agency arena.
The New York Post was the first out with the speculation that
Terry had already raised over $1 billion in private equity funding.
In 2004, IMG chairman and CEO Ted Fortsmann's Fortsmann Little fund
acquired IMG for $750 million. Other suitors have reportedly talked
to the powers that be at IMG but the company is officially saying it is
currently centering on business growth rather than a
sale.Full edition:CYN
