INTERNATIONAL MARKET: Sony Pictures Television International and Korea Telecom (KT) have signed a deal covering day-and-date VOD releases at the same time as local home video launches for the airing of current and future films on KT's Mega TV IPTV platform. Alfred Haber Distribution, Inc. acquired the global rights to the 60-minute special Harlem Globetrotters: A New Generation from its producer, Arthur Smith & Co. (also created Fox TV's Hell's Kitchen. Sony Pictures Television International's AXN SCI-FI has inked carriage deals in several CIS countries, including Russia, the Ukraine and Kazakhstan. Multiple cable operators in the region will bring in the sci fi channel with advanced talks in the works with other carriers. Latin America will soon import new reality and lifestyle series following agreements signed with New York's Bender Media Services. Sales were made to Sony Entertainment Television (Musical Concerts), Imagen Satelital (Mysteries), A&E Ole Networks (Green Minute and Nelly Furtado Live from Toronto), LAP TV (Hotel Erotica), Playboy Lifestyle Channel (Bikini Destinations, Billionaires Car Club, Destination X, The Wild Side and Xotic Xtreme), Zebracom (Juanes), TV Bandeirantes (The Gag's On You), Teleamazonas (Caught on Tape), MEDCOM (Kleo, The Misfit Unicorn Movies) and Ecuavisa (Kleo, The Misfit Unicorn Movies and The Billygoat Movies). In addition, Brazil's TV Record inked a renewal deal for Ultimate Guinness World Records and bought Reruns of Guinness World Records Primetime I, II, and III. Canada's Rogers OMNI.1 will give viewers a glimpse of upcoming European Soccer Championship action with the debut of its Euro 2008 preview series. The show will be presented in two languages, airing weekly prior to the games. The Italian-language version premieres on May 4 at 9a. The Africa Channel, Comcast Memphis and WDIA AM Radio are teaming up to create an exclusive Discover Africa Sweepstakes for Memphis folks. Running through May 28, it will give them a chance to win a vacation package to South Africa. HISPANIC MARKET: Alas just when we thought the feud would see the light of the courtroom today, the Univision/Televisa court battle has been postponed until July 1. The two parties may just be trying to work behind closed doors to figure out an out-of-court agreement but no official word has been said. Texans are all set to get a new network in their midst with Grande Communications signing on to add ESPN Deportes to its digital basic channel line-up in Austin, Corpus Christi, suburban northwest Dallas, Midland, Odessa, San Antonio and San Marcos as of today on Channel 130.
