INTERNATIONAL MARKET: Singapore's MediaCorp media company has joined several other companies to purchase a stake in the new, Vietnam-based International Media Corporation (IMC). Its share in the new company will be 20%. Vietnamese ad company FS Communications, a business group, and confectionery corp Kinh Do Corporation invested in the new firm, which will produce news content centered on entertainment and finance as well as work with Vietnam Multimedia Corporation. IMC will make its debut in the second half of 2008. U.K.-based Whizz Kid Entertainment was able to buy a controlling stake in Precious Media Ltd. after receiving investment moneys to the tune of $3.93 million from the Ingenious Media Active Capital fund. Launched in 2007, Precious Media is a joint venture with Peter Christiansen. Warner Bros. International Television sold the free TV rights for Moonlight, Chuck, and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles to Germany's ProSiebenSat.1, per Variety. The anticipated debuts for each are June 2008, Fall 2008, and 2009, respectively. Human Ape will be the newest mammal on National Geographic Channels International's documentary shelf. The network placed a production order with Pioneer Productions to produce the 120-minute doc about our ties to apes. It will make its U.S. debut on March 17 with other global airings in March. HISPANIC MARKET: Univision scored its biggest reach for the 20th edition of its Premio Lo Nuestro. The February 21 event running 8-11p reached 12.7 million viewers 2+ according to Nielsen's NTI Fast Nationals ratings, the highest ever for any Premio Lo Nuestro telecast, making Univision the #2 network for the entire night among A18-34. The audience averages were 6,240,000 for Total Viewers 2+ and 3,720,000 for A18-49. In year-to-year comparisons, the network saw its highest increases with W18-34 (+14%) and A18-34 (+10%). EXECUTIVE MOVES: As part of Disney Channel Europe, Middle East and Africa's (EMEA) larger reorg, the head of Disney Channel Germany, Michael Kreissl, will leave the division this week. In his stead will be Lars Wagner. He was Discovery Networks Deutschland's Channel Manager prior to this new position. Michael has been MD of Disney Channel Germany for the past 7 years. Mark Bell has been named as the new Commissioning Editor,/Specialist Factual, Independents for the BBC's BBC Knowledge Commissioning team. Reporting to Richard Klein, Head/Independent Knowledge Commissioning, Mark will be in charge of ordering specialist factual programs and multiplatform content. Prior to this role, he was a Channel Executive at BBC Two and BBC Four.
