INTERNATIONAL MARKET: The History Channel UK has appointed Chellomedia's Chello Zone unit as its distribution rep for The History Channel to pay TV platforms in the Czech Republic, Romania, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, and Slovenia. Chellomedia will also provide broadcast services such as digitization and signal distribution, content language versioning, and scheduling through their facilities at the Digital Media Centre in Amsterdam. London format distributor Zeal Entertainment secured the international distribution rights to I've Got Your Number, a new 60-minute format from Amaze TV. Now this is an interesting stat … You reportedly have a 76% chance that you will already have the number of the person you are going to marry in your cell phone by the time you reach 30 years old. So, this 8-episode entertainment dating series takes one singleton's phone and online contacts and invites them all on a date. He/she must then go on a date with all who say yes. The Box Distribution picked up the French repping rights to Italy-based Gruppo Alcuni's new 13-minute Leonardo animated series. The rights for the 26-episode Rai Fiction and Alcuni co-production, due to be finished in April, cover French-speaking territories. It tells a fictional tale of how Leonardo da Vinci and his friends' early years might have been. HISPANIC MARKET: The 2008 Billboard Latin Music Awards finalists will be announced during a special, broadcast live on Telemundo on February 6 at 3p from Hard Rock Cafe locations in Miami, New York, and LA. Did you know that the winners and finalists are determined by the actual sales and radio airplay data from Nielsen SoundScan and Nielsen Broadcast Data Systems from February 10, 2007, through February 2, 2008? The special will be hosted by actress Aylin Mujica and TV personality Alan Tacher from Miami with a special performance by Venezuelan singer/composer Jeremias. The ceremony itself will be produced and broadcast live by Telemundo on April 10. The January 31 debut of TeleFutura's monthly, interactive movie presentation, Fiesta de Pelicula (Movie Party), brought in a rating fiesta for the network with 1,172,000 Total Viewers watching. It brought the network to the #2 position among Spanish-language networks for the evening in key demos, according to Nielsen's NTI ratings (Live +SD). ASIAN/INDIAN MARKET: Comcast and Television Korea 24, Inc. have launched the 24-hour Korean network TVK on Comcast for Comcast Digital Cable customers in the San Francisco-Bay Area (San Francisco, San Jose, and Oakland) on Digital Cable Channel 263. EXECUTIVE MOVES: Lisa Sherman was upped to EVP and GM of Logo from her previous position as SVP and GM of the network. Before joining Logo, she served as SVP and Group Account Director at the New York office of Hill, Holliday Connors, Cosmopulos. Warner Bros. has been pulled in Doug Regan from its business development and strategy unit to be Warner Home Video department's new SVP/Worldwide Strategic Planning and International Finance. He has been with the company for 11 years and will now report to Warner Home Video's EVP/Worldwide Finance and Information Technology, David Hettler. Image Entertainment Corporation brought in Bonita Siegel, formerly Director/Original Productions for the Corus Kids channels, to serve as Creative Producer and Head/Development. In her new position based in Montreal, she will produce and develop TV and film content for Image Entertainment. Bonita will also be the liaison between Image and Paris-based Marathon Media, a company with which Image has co-produced several series.
