INTERNATIONAL MARKET: France Telecom's Orange will wrap in TV content from Spanish company Sogecable's Digital Plus satellite broadcaster into its Spanish triple play and 3G mobile service in the next few months. In addition, the two companies are working on plans to integrate a high-def mobile offering in the near future. In more Spanish news, Vertice 360 content and service provider bought Apuntolapospo for $8.2 million just one week after the former went public. The Barcelona-based digital sound and image post-production house will work with Telson, Vertice 360's Madrid studio, according to HR. A new 5-year agreement has been signed by Televisa and Argentina's Ideas del Sur under which the producer will deliver fiction and entertainment kids/teen-targeted formats. At least 2 telenovelas will be supplied annually with Televisa collaborating with Ideas del Sur on related business development and handling global sales and distribution, according to Variety. Warner Bros and Paramount are sending out more content overseas following recent deals with the U.K.'s BSkyB. The British company will import movies such as Top Gun, Superman Returns, and more to its Sky Anytime's PC on-demand service. Germany's Premiere Star will launch a new romantic-inclined channel on … you guessed it … Valentine's Day, February 14, 2008. Romance TV will offer up telenovelas, features, series, and made-for-TV movies with German-language productions making up the majority of content in addition to U.S. and Bollywood-produced fare, per World Screen. HISPANIC MARKET: Mexico's Televisa won the latest U.S. legal round against Univision. The ruling stated that the U.S. Spanish-language network's alleged breaches of contract may be a justification for the Mexican company to terminate Univision's exclusive Televisa content distribution deal in the U.S. The original 25-year content agreement runs through 2017. The trial will begin on March 18, 2008. The InterLiga tournament will return to Fox Sports en Espanol with live and exclusive telecasts of the all-Mexican professional club soccer tournament's 14 matches played in U.S. Spanish-language coverage kicks off today with all the matches preceded by a live, 30-minute pre-game show. Fox Sports Latin America will air the games in Latin America. EXECUTIVE MOVES: Warner Bros. TV promoted Sonia Borris to the new position of SVP/Marketing and Operations for the company's international marketing division. As part of her new duties, she will manage marketing, product integration, promotions, and other aspects of daily operations. Reporting to international marketing head, Lisa Gregorian, Sonia will continue to work on WBTV's online, digital, event, and production marketing as well. She has served as VP/Marketing and Promotions for two years. Laurent Taieb was upped to VP for Nickelodeon and Viacom Consumer Products (NVCP) in France. He has been in charge of the company's strategy in the country since January 2006. His duties will continue to manage the NVCP and MTV Networks France brands' local consumer products activities, agent and partner relationships, among other responsibilities, and work with category heads in London.
