INTERNATIONAL MARKET: MTV Networks sold Tempo, the 24-hour pan-Caribbean cable television network, to a group of investors led by Frederick A. Morton, Jr., who founded the network while employed at MTV Networks. The deal was final on November 8, 2007 and specific terms were not disclosed. Tempo was launched by MTV Networks in November 2005 and currently is distributed in 25 islands reaching approximately 400,000 households and 1.6 million viewers. The U.K.'s YooMedia has inked a conditional deal to buy a 95.2% issued share capital stake in Spain's Fresh Interactive Technologies SA interactive TV firm with the financial help of Kasei 2000, a Spanish investment group. The agreement, valued at close to 12.9 million pounds minus expenses, will see Fresh rebranded as Mirada if its board approves the move. YooMedia is reportedly making the move to grow its European market reach. Fresh CEO Jose-Luis Vazquez will become Mirada's new CEO while YooMedia's Group Managing Director, Neil Macdonald, will be COO. YooMedia's Chairman, Michael Sinclair, will be in the same position at Mirada and Kasei 2000 director Rafael Martin Sanz will be a non-exec director. Globo TV Sports signed 2 renewal deals with Eastern Europe's TV Kosava for the 2008 season of Brazilian Magic Football. It covers 82 live Brazilian National and Sao Paulo championship games. In addition, the 26-minute FootBrazil will come back with 46 episodes a year, which include training info, player interviews, lineups, and more. Although it got off to a good start, the localized French version of Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader? on M6 was dropped. CROSS-MARKET: Gospel Music Channel has signed distribution agreements to launch on Bresnan Communications (MSO-wide throughout Colorado, Montana and Wyoming), Charter Communications (Central and West Divisions), Comcast Digital Cable (New Jersey region), Cox Communications (Pensacola Region, FL), and Time Warner Cable (Northeast Ohio Division, Cleveland/Akron, Austin/Waco/Killeen, TX). Recent distribution deals and launches have brought the Gospel/Christian music network past the 22 million household mark, up from 8 million in the beginning of 2007. HISPANIC MARKET: Univision's Cristina scored its biggest audience ever on December 4 with the stars of finale of the Destilando Amor (Essence of Love) telenovela, which immediately preceded the primetime talk show. The 30-minute special edition of Cristina brought in 6.7 million Total Viewers 2+ and 3.8 million A18-49. LATAM MARKET: The top 10 Mexican box office estimates from Nielsen EDI and Variety for November 30 - December 6, 2007 will be updated as soon as they are available. EXECUTIVE MOVES: James Murdoch has left his position as CEO of the U.K.'s BSkyB to become Chairman/Europe and Asia for its parent company, News Corp. Jeremy Darroch, BSkyB's CFO, will take James' place. In order for James to take on his new non-exec chairman position, Rupert Murdoch resigned as BSkyB's chairman and director.
