Cynopsis concentrates on the business of television, and more specifically on the programming: series, premieres, cancellations, development, ratings, schedules, casting notes -- all part of your daily edition.

The edition also carries a fleet of classified ads, all targeted to those in the television industry. There are also situation wanted ads in the event you find yourself in need of a job, and we have just in the last year began running Internship ads. Once these ads finish their 5-day run in the email edition, they migrate here to the website for an additional 30 days.

Cynopsis was launched on April 2, 1997 as an internal office memo sent by me, Cynthia Turner, to my staff of newbie research people. At the time I worked at MMT Sales, a rep firm in NYC. The memo seemed to catch on, and soon spread throughout the office, then to the client base, and out to the ad sales community. By the end of the first year, there were 100 subscribers who received this morning daily by fax (pre-dates email in a lot of places). At the time, 100 subscribers seemed like a lot!

Thereafter, the subscriber base continued to grow, adding between 100-200 new subscribers every week. Today, nine years later, there are more than 50,000 subscribers in over 27 countries, and more than 130,000 daily readers. Right now, 50k seems like a lot!

In June 2005 we launched Cynopsis: In Your Ear, a daily audio podcast. This streaming podcast is available here on this site, as well as at iTunes.
