If Tribune does accept the offer, which several reports predict it will do by week's end, Zell will take the company private.
~ MORE GOOD STUFF ~
The debut of Discovery Channel's Planet
Earth last Sunday (8-11p) delivered a 3.6 HH rating and 12 million
total viewers over the three hours. Additionally, according to TNS Media
Research's set top box information taken from a major market, the
Discovery HD Theater premiere of Planet Earth increased the program's
overall HH rating by 15% and an estimated 500,000 more homes watched all
three hours in HD. Plant Earth continues the next four Sunday nights
starting at 8p. Fox had planned on the return of Standoff to the primetime schedule next Friday at 8p, but its return has been delayed until some time in June. House will step in with repeats on Fridays at 8p in the interim. No word yet on the fate of Standoff - Fox isn't making any noise about it one way or another until the upfront announcements in May. The action sports lifestyle network, FUEL TV, will return three series this Sunday night as part of its Stacked Sundays programming block:
The Style Network has renewed the series Instant Beauty Pageant for a second season starting April 6 at 10p. Each one-hour episode follows the two co-hosts Debbie Matenopoulos of E!'s The Daily 10 along with new co-host Cameron Mathison of ABC's All My Children, as they ambush five women at shopping malls in six cities convincing them to participate in an impromptu beauty pageant. So watch out if you live in Virginia Beach, Houston, Atlanta, Los Angeles, Las Vegas or San Diego! NBC Sports and the National Hockey League have extended their revenue sharing partnership agreement through the 2007-2008 season. The new agreement includes a "Game of the Week" flexible scheduling component as well as an NBC option for 2008-2009. All of the NBC regular season games will be broadcast on Sundays next season in high definition. Postseason games will air on Saturdays and Sundays and Games 3-7 of the Stanley Cup Final will be broadcast in primetime. Banks Broadcasting has signed a contract and filed an application with the FCC to sell KSCW/Wichita Falls, The CW affiliate, to Sunflower Broadcasting, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Schurz Communications, Inc. Bank Broadcasting still owns KNIN-TV/Boise, while Schurz Communications, based in South Bend, IN, owns several newspapers, radio, television and cable television stations across the U.S. Calling all college students!
