WizKids LLC,
makers of collectable miniature games (CMGs) have released Counterassault, an expansion for the MechWarrior: Dark Age CMG (sci-fi game), which adds a variety of new aspects to the game.  Counterassault booster packs containing four prepainted miniature figures including two Mechs.  WizKids introduced MechWarrior in 2002 and it has sold more than 40 million of the little guys since then.  Other WizKids CMGs include Mage Knight and HeroClix.

Yesterday the word from Sony Europe President Chris Deering was that Sony would release its new handheld PSP unit in November of this year.  In apparent contradiction to that, Sony Computer Entertainment VP, Saiki Masatsuka explained in an interview with Famitsu magazine that the PSP will be released in December.  Honestly it would make a lot more sense for a December 2004 release, given that December will also mark the 10th anniversary for PlayStation.  Though a November release sets it up for the holiday rush.  In the interview Saiki also said a number of game titles will be available at launch and some of them will be introduced this May at E3. Third party game publishers also expected to release games in December include: Capcom, Koei, Konami, Namco, and Sega.  Additionally Saiki, gave further indication that the PSP will have other capabilities, like use as a GPS.  And really what more can you ask of a gaming device than to help keep the kids occupied in the car and prevent you from getting lost.

Napster, a division of Roxio, Imation Corp. and Case Logic, Inc., a storage, protection and organization company for personal technology, has entered into a partnership with Target Corporation to bring the Napster online music experience to the retail stores. Beginning Feb. 15 at Target Stores nationwide, the companies will launch the first ‘one-stop shop’ in a retail store where consumers can find and purchase the whole digital downloading shebang right at the store.  That package will include pre-paid Napster download cards, a Napster 2.0 and Roxio software pack, blank Napster-brand Imation optical products that include special "value-added" promotional codes for free music downloads, and Napster-brand CD cases from Case Logic.

Interactive entertainment peripheral design company Nyko Technologies introduced its new wireless Air Flo video game controller for Sony’s PlayStation 2 at CES.  The unit is an extension of its cabled Air Flo controller, introduced last year, which helps gamers with the problem of sweaty hands, in addition to providing increased mobility for some games like Madden 2004.  As for the sweaty hands thing, I can think of a few other solutions, like go for a walk.
