Cartoon Network and Kellogg are joining with marketing partners including AOL, AT&T Wireless, Dell, and Xbox for Toon Tour Mysteries, a promotion for this fall that will feature Cartoon Network characters from the network.  The promotion is to include one of five different DVDs, featuring Cartoon Network content, free in upwards of 100 million Kellogg’s cereals and snack packages (Keebler).  The DVDs will feature content including bloopers, interactive games, a Cartoon Network episode, character wallpaper, music videos and added value bonus activities.  AT&T Wireless will host Cartoon Network trivia style games.  Additionally there will be a sweepstakes that kids can enter either on an AT&T wireless phone, or enter on-line with a code from a package of a participating Kellogg brand. BAM! Entertainment, interactive software developer and publisher, announced yesterday that it will acquire VIS entertainment plc, a Scotland based developer of interactive entertainment software products, and SOE Development Limited, a company set up to fund the development of VIS’ key property, State of Emergency 2.  The deal terms for the proposed acquisition have been approved by the board of directors for both companies, and ‘shareholders representing over 90% of the share capital of VIS have signed irrevocable undertakings to vote in favor of the transaction.’  Executives from both BAM and VIS will head up the combined company.  Their first joint project is expected to be the development and publishing of Emergency 2, the sequel to the hit game that sold more than 1 million units worldwide.

Build-A-Bear Workshop has opened new stores in Seoul, Korea (2/13) and in Tokyo Ginza, Japan (2/14).  This past fall the company opened four stores in Canada and its first overseas store in Sheffield, England.  The new stores in Korea and Japan are exclusive territory franchisee agreements with partners in those countries; Gemmyworks, Co., Ltd. in Korea and Tech R&DS in Japan.  Additional franchisee agreements and store openings are expected for more UK stores as well as expanding to countries including Denmark and France.
