With Director Mike Newell is still in the midst of making HP and the
Goblet of Fire, which is scheduled to be released November 18, 2005,
the HP rumor mill is hard at work about who will direct Harry Potter
and the Order of the Phoenix, currently slated for release
2007. HP fan website The Leaky Cauldron, sites an interview in The
Times of India with movie director Mira Nair (Vanity Fair, Monsoon
Wedding, Mississippi Masala), in which the director says that she is
considering accepting an offer from Warner Bros. to direct the movie
version of HP & the Order of the Phoenix. For now, a rumor it
shall remain.
Raven Symone, the star of Disney Channel’s sit-com That’s So Raven
has inked a six figure development deal with ABC-TV for a 2005
primetime series. Symone starred in Disney Channel’s original movie
The Cheetah Girls (2003), which earned the network some of its strongest
ratings. Additionally, Symone plays a recurring role on the cable
nets animated series Kim Possible. Symone grew up in primetime TV,
joining the cast of The Cosby Show when she was three years old, and
later was on the sit-com Hangin’ With Mr. Cooper.
NY Yankee’s catcher Jorge Posada and NY Giants running back
Tiki Barber will make guest appearances as baseball coaches of the
Harlem Teen League in The N’s 6-episode miniseries Miracle’s
Boys set to debut on the network February 2005. Miracle's Boys
is based on the young adult novel of the same name from author Jacqueline
Woodson, about three orphaned brothers living in Harlem.
Paramount has begun production on the 30min comedy series,
Related By Family, which is currently scheduled (though
tentatively) to bow on FOX this January, 2005. The series is
about a group of teens who work at together at a mall and their various
weird and unconventional home lives. The show stars Amy Yasbeck
(Wings, Alright Already), and will feature guest appearances, in an early
episode, by American idol winner Ruben Studdard and finalist, Kimberly
Caldwell.
Consolidated Sports Media Group Inc. has entered into a video
distribution agreement with women’s soccer stars Mia Hamm and
Tiffeny Milbrett for their Soccer Secrets and Fitness video
series, which stars the two soccer players. A national direct
response TV campaign will launch shortly in the US, with the DVD series
set for international release this November, 2004, and additional titles
planned for release during the 2005/2006 soccer seasons. The Soccer
Secrets and Fitness video series features both Hamm and Milbrett as well
as teammate Lorrie Fair, and is produced by Cloud Nine
Entertainment.
If you are a Wheaties fan, beginning mid-September you will get
your chance to dine with three top US Olympic champion athletes from this
recent Athens Games. Yesterday General Mills, makers of
Wheaties, announced the upcoming release of new special-edition packages
honoring record-breaking swimmer Michael Phelps, gymnastics champion
Carly Patterson, and sprinter Justin Gatlin. While General Mills
doesn’t give out the exact numbers, there will be several million
Wheaties boxes featuring the Olympians, each athlete appearing
individually on the cover of 18oz boxes of Wheaties.
Michael Phelps and his Olympic teammates Lenny Krayzelburg and
Ian Crocker have returned to the US and begin a 12-city tour with
Disney’s Swim with the Stars tour beginning today, August 31,
2004. Launching at Disney World in Florida, the tour will also make
stops in the following key markets (chronologically): Atlanta, NYC,
Baltimore, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, Seattle,
San Francisco and ending up at Disneyland in Anaheim, CA. At each
stop on the tour, the swimming champs will spend time with local school
kids, at one school in each market, as part of a Disney outreach program
to motivate, inspire and encourage kids to achieve. Additionally,
in each market there Disney will present a 2 hour swimming presentation
highlighting the accomplishments of each swimmer, as well as swim
demonstrations, races including a relay.
Current NFL quarterback brothers Peyton and Eli Manning and their
former NFL quarterback dad Archie Manning, are the next in a long
line of athletes to don milk mustaches as part of The National
got milk? Milk Mustache campaign, which aims to inform consumers
about the importance of calcium and additional benefits of milk, and ways
to include milk in a daily diet. The first print ad featuring the 3
Manning men will appear in the September 10, issue of USA Today.
Other NFL stars that have sported a Milk Mustache as part of the campaign
include: Jake Delhomme, Brad Johnson, Tom Brady, Marshall Faulk, Steve
McNair, John Elway, Rich Gannon and Brett Favre.
The Baker Dillon Group, an
advertising/marketing/branding/promotion firm, has inked a strategic
alliance with SportsInk, LLC, a sports communications and
consulting company, to provide enhanced marketing for high school and
college athletic programs and develop programs for Convention &
Visitors Bureaus to attract sporting events.
Entertainment and licensing company Glick Entertainment will
launch its new Monster Zappers toy line this September, with a
direct response TV campaign. Targeted to K4-10, Monster Zappers, is
pretty much what you might be thinking, a kit that helps kids rid their
room of those pesky monsters that come out when the lights come off, but
in this case turns them into harmless creatures called Zaptsters.
The starter kit introduces a series of Monster Zapper characters,
character trading cards, a door hang telling monsters to Keep Out!, a
mini flashlight and a club membership application. The TV spot,
which begins airing tomorrow, is aimed at parents and primary in-home
caregivers.
Marc Bennett has been upped to President/North America,
Codemasters. In an interview with GameDaily, Bennett explained
that he will now oversee Codemasters’ publishing business, and will
‘focus on retail partners,’ and that he will be ‘going after and
acquiring licenses with strong appeal that are suitable for video games,’
in addition to, ‘establishing relationships’ with indie game
developers. Prior to his promotion Bennett served as GM/North
America, Codemasters.
Additionally, David Darling has been appointed Chairman of the
Board/Codemasters Group Ltd. Darling is taking over the role
from his Dad Jim Darling, who will remain on the Board of
Directors. David Darling along with Dad Jim and Brother Richard to
launched Codemasters 18 yrs ago. Darling will focus his energies on
expanding the company’s reach across all gaming platforms, existing and
new, as well as guide the strategic development and growth.
