Cynopsis
1/29/07

Good Morning, it's  Monday, January 29, 2007 and this is your first early morning briefing.

Launching a website these days is rarely news.  What does make news is when a cable network says it will drop out of the cable linear business, in favor of a broadband business. Cable network LIME has launched its own broadband channel where it features a variety of original content focused on "healthy living with a twist." In launching the website, LIME says it will also phase out its linear channel, currently available in approx 7 million homes.  According to the Wall Street Journal, while the channel will continue to provide VOD to its cable subscribers, the focus will be on online where they've already signed a handful of video deals including deals with Yahoo, Google and AOL. Two major advertisers have also been signed so far - Toyota Motor Corp and L'Oreal's Garnier.

Tonight's Premieres:
Court TV:  Suburban Secrets at 10p

~ MORE GOOD STUFF ~

ABC's Wednesday primetime schedule has changed to apparently give the two freshmen comedies, The Knights of Prosperity and In Case of Emergency stronger lead-ins. Starting this Wednesday the new schedule will be: George Lopez at 8p; The Knights of Prosperity at 830p; According to Jim at 9p; and In Case of Emergency at 930p, followed by Lost at 10p starting February 7.

And CBS has also made a change, pulling Armed & Famous from the Wednesday 8p time period, and replacing it with repeats of CSI: NY.  CSI will sit tight until Jericho returns to the 8p hour on February 14.

This will be Reba's final season on The CW and the finale episodes will air back to back on February 18 beginning at 7p.

Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution has renewed Extra in more than 95% of the country through the 2009-2010 season, and also renewed the contracts for anchors Dayna Devon and Mark McGrath.

BBC America will debut a new season of the crime drama Silent Witness, and the first of four two-hour episodes begin February 19 at 9p.

If you're headed to the RealScreen Summit in Washington DC today, it will be dry and cold, with daytime temps hovering around the mid- to high 30's, and nighttime lows in the low 20's.  Dress warmly and be sure to swing by the CABLEready opening party tonight - I'll be there looking for you! For a quick glance at content providers and network reps attending, check out the list here.

~ PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT ~

CBS has ordered up two more pilots -
  • Babylon Fields is about dead people who are brought back, and attempt to pick up where they left off when they died.  This project is from 20th Century Fox TV.
  • Twilight from Silver Pictures and Warner Bros. TV, is a drama about a private investigator who also happens to be a vampire.  You can probably imagine all the conflicts he deals with, what with the whole immortality thing, a few bad-guy vampires lurking, falling for a mortal girl, you get it. The script is written by Trevor Munson and Ron Koslow.

Two pilots on order for Fox:
  • Hackett is about a writer and Yale professor who escapes all his troubles on the east coast and heads inland to Ohio to teach high school. The project is from 25C Prods and Sony Pictures TV.
  • Two Families from HBO Independent Prods is about two seemingly unrelated people who realize they share the same father.  More interesting, the father is simultaneously married to each of their mothers.

Casting Call: TV Land is looking for well-known celebrities from the 70s, 80s and 90s of TV, film, music, sports and newsmakers to appear on their new reality series Celebrity Love Cruise. The show's producers are promising a fun, entertaining and light reality-type show with competitive pay. Only celebrities with lots of personality and recognizable names will be considered. If you fit these criteria, please contact Laurie D. Muslow at for more details.
