HISPANIC MARKET:
Entravision Communications Corporation's
Entravision Radio has picked up the Renan Almendarez Coello-hosted
Spanish-language radio program "El Cucuy de la Manana"
for 13 of the division's markets as ABC Radio Networks affiliates.
LATAM MARKET:
Davidson Media Group has completed its
acquisition of Providence's WAKX and WKKB from
Citadel for a reported $7.5 million. As part of the
purchase, WAKX-FM will change its format from a CHR/Rhythmic WWKX
simulcast to a new Portuguese-language format. WKKB-FM will make
the switch to tropical from rock.

AFRICAN AMERICAN
MARKET:
The Interep-hosted Power of Urban Radio
Symposium will take place on April 27 in New York. This seventh
annual event will center on the urban market's definitive stance as the
new general market and its effect and outlook on the radio advertising
arena. In addition to Dr. Nat Irvin II (founder/president, Future
Focus 2020) as the keynote, the symposium will include key industry
broadcasters such as Charles Warfield (president/COO, Inner-City
Broadcasting Corporation), Barry Mayo (SVP/Market Manager, Emmis NY) and
Zemira Jones (VP of Operations, Radio One) focusing on targeting African
American consumers.
Chicago's WB network affiliate WGN will honor Black History Month
with several specials this month. In addition to the special
programming, WGN will air special segments on its Saturday 6:30 am People
to People show and feature African-American consumer and community cover
stories during its WGN News at Nine newscast. The programming
line-up includes the following:
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.: A Historical Perspective on
February 12 at 8 pm A documentary taking a look at the civil rights
leader's beliefs and methods through the eyes of writer and director Tom
Friedman
TV in Black: The First Fifty Years on February 27 at noon: The
history of and images in television from an African American perspective
Oscar's Black Odyssey: From Hattie to Halle on February 27 at
1 pm: The legacy of Oscar winnings and nominations from the vantage point
of the under 50 African American nominated actors (from 1939-2004)
Unsung Heroes: A series of reports and profiles centering on
Chicago area citizens who have contributed and committed to their
communities on the Friday and/or Saturday WGN News at Nine (the

INTERNATIONAL MARKET:
Granada International acquired the
international distribution rights to Impossible Pictures'
Tyrannosaurus Rex. The 1-hour documentary is an original BBC
commission that uses CGI and feature-film footage to illustrate the
dinosaur's biography and how its image has differed over the 100 year
since its fossil paleontologist Barnum T. Brown. Jasper James is the
documentary's exec producer.

CNBC Asia Pacific upped Peter Juno to
SVP/Director ofOperations and Cynthia Owens to
SVP of News Programming. Peter will oversee the company's
operations and engineering units, new technology strategy planning,
development and implementation and operational coordination between CNBC
Asia Pacific and CNBC networks in the US and Europe. Cynthia will
be responsible for CNBC Asia Pacific's news production and presentation,
programming format development and news collection practices. Peter
and Cynthia were previously VPs for their respective divisions and will
both be based in Singapore.
ABC Radio Networks named Carlos A. San Jose as Director
of Hispanic Sales. In this newly created position, he will
oversee sales development strategy, marketing partnership initiatives and
sales for ABC Radio's Hispanic Advantage Network, Hispanic Major League
Baseball, and ESPN Deportes. Carlos was previously a consultant and
General Manager for Azteca America Television Network's Chicago affiliate
WOCK. He will be based in Chicago and report to Donald Moore,
VP/Multi-Cultural Sales for ABC Radio Networks.
Entravision Radio upped Nestor "Pato" Rocha to
VP/Programming. Nestor will be responsible for the
programming and promotion operations of the radio company's 54 stations
across the US as well as continuing in his current position as program
director in LA for KSSE-FM 107.1 Super Estrella. He will be based
in LA and report to Jeffery A. Liberman, Entravision Radio's
President. Nestor has been with the company since 1992.
Entravision Radio also named Carlos "Napoleon"
Sanchez as Format Director for its Radio Tricolor
network. He was most recently the morning show host/program
director for KIWI-FM "Radio Lobo" in the Bakersfield, CA
area.
LatinWorks Marketing named Keisha M. Andrews as
Director/Media Services. As head of the new division, Keisha
will oversee her strategy media building team for the company's top
LatinWorks clients. She was previously with Starcom MediaVest
Group's, StarLink Worldwide and Tapestry as director of Hispanic media
strategy and investment for Miller Brewing Company (MGD and Miller Lite
brands), Walt Disney World, Kellogg's, Phillip Morris, SBC, Purina, and
Hennessy cognac.
Viacom Outdoor Latino upped Rafael Cardona to Western
National Account Executive and named Alvin Hysong as
Eastern National Account Executive. Both Rafael and Alvin
will be responsible for creating Hispanic out-of-home media billing
business in their respective regions. Rafael was previously an
LA-based account executive and will continue to be based from the
California city. Alvin will be based in New York.
