and more.
American Honda Motor Co. Inc.'s the Ridgeline truck debuted
its nationwide Hispanic ad campaign titled “Kingdom.” La
Agencia de Orci & Asociados, the car company's Hispanic agency,
developed the first 30-second television commercial, print and
out-of-home advertisements. Outdoor and radio ads will emerge in
the future within the LA metro area. Ridgeline's campaign will be
the first time Honda has campaigned the Hispanic community for a pickup
truck.

Radio One, Inc. has officially purchased a
majority stake in Reach Media, Inc. for nearly $56
million. The Tom Joyner and David Kantor-founded Reach operates the
Tom Joyner Morning Show (TJMS), the Tom Joyner Sky Show, the Tom Joyner
Family Reunion,
www.BlackAmericaWeb.com and a TV One cable show in addition to other
businesses affiliated with Tom Joyner and several special event

million listeners. The acquisition total is subdivided into
approximately $30.4 million in cash and close to 1.8 million shares
(Radio One Class D common stock).
INTERNATIONAL MARKET:
Sony Corporation is all shook up today as its
current senior management team proposed a new managerial structure
yesterday, "Designed to expand upon its core strengths as a global
electronics, entertainment and technology company." The plan
calls for Sir Howard Stringer to take over for Sony's current CEO,
Nobuyuki Ide, as Chairman/Group CEO and Representative Corporate
Executive Officer, Sony Corporation; while continuing as
Chairman/CEO of Sony Corporation of America. The Board of
Directors offered its approval yesterday, and the proposed changes will
go into effect as of June 22, 2005, subject to the approval at Sony
Corp.'s General Shareholder's meeting scheduled for earlier the same
day. Stringer will reign from both the NY and Tokyo Sony
headquarters. He also becomes the first non Japanese individual to
lead Sony's overall global group business operations.
OMNI.1 will present a 5-part program that will focus on the
changes six women have brought about in their individual Portuguese
communities as part of its OMNI News: Portuguese Edition as of March 7
(The news airs at 5 and 5:30 pm). Elas will air daily
throughout the week.
The rights to David Mamet's Edmond have been divvied up with the
North American rights going to First Independent Pictures.
Wild Bunch has picked up global with Tartan Films taking
the UK and Ireland. The movie centers on man delving into murder as
a way to cope with his boring life. The Stuart Gordon-directed film
just finished production with Muse Productions' Stuart, Chris Hanley and
Molly Hassell and Pretty Dangerous Films' Duffy Hecht, Roger Kass, Mary
McCann and Kevin Ragsdale producing. Al Corley, Steven Hays, Tricia
van Klaveren, Hamish McAlpine, Eugene Musso, Bart Rosenblatt, Gary Rubin
and Felix and Katherine Werner are Edmond's exec producers.
In an interesting case of format curiosity, BBC3 has acquired
The OfficeAn American Workplace from NBC Universal
International Television Distribution. Debuting in the US in
March, the show is actually an American version of BBC's The
Office. Reveille produced the Scranton, PA-based US office comedy
starring Steve Carell.
Despite rumbles from the British government against further
foreign acquisitions, BBC reportedly decided to forge ahead with
the purchase of the new US scifi show The Triangle. The
British network has supposedly place a $3 million bid on the Bryan Singer
and Dean Devlin series destined for the Sci-Fi channel in the
US. In the government's opinion stated in its Green Paper,
"the BBC should stay out of bidding wars for expensive foreign
imports except where it is clear that no other terrestrial broadcaster
would show all the programmes or films in question, or that the
acquisition would clearly contribute to the public purpose".
20th Century Fox has inked a deal with France's Match TV
(Lagardere) for the exclusive first run of its US bio documentaries until
2008. The Michael Burns-produced and directed Studio
Portraits includes approximately 25 celebrity interview hours
annually with Ron Howard's profile launching the series as the debut
March episode.
DirecTV is not too happy with some neighbors up north with its new
filed lawsuit against 19 Ontario Canadians for illegally
gaining access to its signals. A Canadian ruling one year ago
permitted its citizens to buy and bring back DirecTV or DISH Network
cable systems. The US satellite TV corporation's signals are
accessible in Canada. According to DirecTV, the individuals
allegedly included a network of 5 businesses and several websites that
were used to help the defendants' with fake American mailing addresses
and info in order to establish accounts with the sat company without
payment received by DirecTV for continued service.
