Good morning! It's
Tuesday, March 15, 2005,
and this is your first early morning
Multi-Cultural
briefing.
HISPANIC MARKET:
San Diego's viewers will soon be able to see a
new indie Spanish-language TV/cable channel from NBC Universal
Television Stations. Set to launch April 8, Mi San
Diego TV 43 will air on KBOP with a combination of local news, sports
and entertainment shows. In addition to broadcasting live Padres
Baseball games and local shows from KNSD (NBC-owned San Diego station),
the channel will have access to programming from NBC's LA-based KWHY.
Three key Colorado regions have started receiving the Spanish-language
Azteca America Colorado following McGraw-Hill
Broadcasting's launch of its signals on Denver's KZCO, Ft.
Collins/Greeley's KZFC and Colorado Springs/Pueblo's KZCS. The
channel will be broadcast over-the-air and through cable reception with
the channel's new partnership with Comcast for the Denver and Pueblo
area.
Impremedia's Spanish language weekly La Raza has
teamed up with Hollinger's Fox Valley Publications to distribute
the publication in Chicago suburbs as well cross advertising and event
co-sponsorships. Under the new partnership, La Raza will be
included with Fox Valley's five dailies: Aurora's The Beacon News,
Elgin's The Courier News, Joliet's The Herald News,
Waukegan's The News Sun and The Naperville Sun.
This year's Billboard Latin Music Awards will take place in Miami
on April 28 with a live broadcast to air on Telemundo at 7
pm. Marco Antonio Solis (singer/songwriter) and Juan Luis Guerra
(singer) will be awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award and Spirit of
Hope Award respectively. The awards reflect the sales data and radio
airplay time to determine the performers, songs and albums' placing on
Billboard's weekly charts.
