Domestic Cable Distribution Cynopsis 1/03/07 Good Morning, it's Wednesday, January 3, 2007 and this is your first early morning briefing. With a carriage deal secure with Time Warner Cable, News Corp. plans to proceed with the launch of a new business news channel, expected some time this year. Time Warner and Fox News distribution execs worked out the deal prior to the holiday week, but the terms were not disclosed. It was critical for News Corp. to gain distribution with Time Warner as it is one of the two largest cable operators in the New York City market. News Corp. indicated it preferred to have carriage deals for approx 30 million homes before it would move forward with the new network. Time Warner serves 23 million U.S. homes. Previously, Comcast and it's 12 million U.S. homes, signed a deal to carry the new channel. Bravo has ordered a third season of Top Chef, the culinary competition series, and a nationwide casting call starts this month with cook-offs in Dallas, Las Vegas, New York and San Francisco. Those interested in becoming a "top chef" can visit BravoTV.com/casting. New York Giants fans would probably prefer their own Tiki Barber would keep his eye on the ball at the moment, which he did beautifully last weekend, rather than worry about his post-football broadcast career. And that seems to be just what he's doing, while his people are working no less than three networks, all of whom have shown interest in being Tiki's new home team. If you've been following this story, you know Tiki has been on Fox News several times, and has shown enough promise that ABC, NBC and Fox are all interested in signing him up. The interesting thing here perhaps is that while Tiki knows his sports and can certainly talk the talk well, he is also interested in doing general news in addition to sports. A decision from the Barber camp is expected soon. VH1 will launch a new documentary reality series on January 7th at 1030p called Shooting Sizemore, which begins with the moment Tom Sizemore steps out of rehab and follows he and his small entourage as he works toward rebuilding his life and his career. Sizemore's addiction to heroin and meth eventually led to lost jobs, bankruptcy and jail time. Included in the doc series is black and white film footage Sizemore shot of himself while on drugs - his rages and paranoid behaviors. Shooting Sizemore is from Tijuana Entertainment and VH1. Style Network has been added to DirecTV's Total Choice Plus programming line-up, making the network available to more than 50 million U.S. cable and direct broadcast satellite customers. Reaching a TV network milestone, the G4 network is now available in 60+ million US cable and satellite households. The network and its multi-platform content (podcasts, VOD, broadband, mobile and Internet) are targeted to guys 18-34.

MyTVPal.com has just launched a new
VOD service for TV beginning with an 84-minute compilation of
shorts titled North America's Best Independent Animated Shorts.
This ad-supported feature film will be available for free for a limited
time. MyTVPal.com delivers DVD and HD streamed movies via a set top box
affixed to a TV and it is available to any consumer with a broadband
connection, with no downloading or computer required. MyTVPal.com will
also offer 100 movie trailers this month and these films and other
content can be viewed for a monthly subscription fee.

NBC ordered up three new drama pilots:
Fox TV Studios has signed a development deal with executive producer Anthony Dominici to create and produce new series for the studio, says Variety. Dominici has been exec producing America's Next Top Model for the past six cycles, and as a result of this new deal, will leave ANTM. USA Network has given a go to the drama project Mary Sunshine, with an order for 11 episodes plus the pilot, per Hollywood Reporter. You may be more familiar with this project under its original name - In Plain Sight - about a US Marshall who works during the day in the witness protection program, and by evening tries to work successfully at managing her personal life. The project stars Mary McCormack, and currently plans to be ready for air in 4th qtr 2007 or early 2008.

Jason Seiken joins PBS as
SVP/Interactive, reporting to John Boland, Chief Content Officer
at PBS' Arlington headquarters. Jason will supervise new media content
and services for pbs.org, pbskids.org among other web sites and broadband
and mobile platforms. Iconix Brand Group has named Russell A. Brown as Director/Business Development, where he will work to increase the licensees for brands including Bongo, Joe Boxer, London Fog among others. He will report to Yehuda Shmidman, VP/Business Development.

off the New Year at #1 Monday night with a 4.2/10 A18-49,
according to fast affiliate ratings from Nielsen Media Research.
ABC came in second at 3.4/8, and then CBS 3.3/8, NBC 1.9/5, UNIV 1.5/4,
CW 0.9/2 and TELE 0.6/2. ABC started out at 8p by winning with the final
of its Rose Bowl game at 4.8/11. FOX then won both at 9p and at 10p with
its Fiesta Bowl presentation, peaking at 5.5/13 in the 9p hour and
