INTERNATIONAL MARKET: Dubai-based Arabian Television Network (ATN) is partnering with MTV Networks International to launch MTV Arabiya across the Pan-Arab region in the second half of this year. The free-to-air TV channel will air around-the-clock programming such as music videos, music-based programming, lifestyle, animated, and reality shows, comedy and drama series, documentaries, news updates and specials, interviews, and more. MTV Arabiya will also produce local content aimed at its Arabic-speaking youth target audience. ATN is a subsidiary of the new Arabian Broadcasting Network. The show airs now two hours later than before to both U.S. and Mexican audiences. The show originates from Mexico's La Ke Buena Radio Network, broadcasting across 27 stations in Mexico and over 30 in the U.S. LATAM MARKET: Mexico's Argos production house picked up a new agreement with TV Azteca with the first telenovela to air in the next few months. The two companies had worked together before 2001 when Argos decided to work with the U.S.'s Telemundo. Telemundo recently ended its 5 year agreement with Argos at the end of 2006 in anticipation of launching its own Mexican production company. Argos is also currently working on a HBO series co-production according to Variety. Each week, the 8x60 series will have different men of various ages, educational backgrounds, and economic status come together for a dominoes game in a Hollywood Hills loft to tell the truth about the facts, the fiction and everything in between that defines and drives black men. Black Men Revealed is produced by MacVision, Another Bright Idea Entertainment and King Artist Management. Originally airing on HBO, The Wire will now make it way to BET into a regular Thursday slot from 9-1030p. The series' season one premiere on BET will kick off with the first three 90-minute episodes airing January 10-12 at the same evening time. The show, starring Idris Elba, Michael Williams and Lance Riddick, focuses on Baltimore's inner city drug scene. ASIAN/INDIAN MARKET: AZN Television will premiere a new fashion series, Style: Asia, today. The show will offer viewers a look at fashion in Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Bangkok. In addition, the channel will debut a 30-minute music series, Music Bang, on January 12. Some of the other new programs set to debut this and next month include Handsome Siblings, Mars, Drunken Kung Fu, Jumong, and Seven Swordsmen in addition to NBA Timeout's second season. ImaginAsian TV will launch a new primetime anime block, Anime EnerG, with Geneon Entertainment on January 30 at 8p. The 120-minute primetime anime block will feature Geneon's Japanese anime series Elemental Gelade, Kyoh Kara Maoh!, Law of Ueki, and Gankutsuou:The Count of Monte Cristo on the new Tuesday evening animation block. iaTV will be the first network to broadcast them in both English subtitled and dubbed versions. Three other Geneon Entertainment anime series, Paradise Kiss, Ayakashi and Kamichu, are scheduled to premiere on iaTV in Summer 2007. GAY/LESBIAN MARKET: On January 1 at 12midnight the new http://WGAY.TV launched with free 24-hour online content for theGLBT audience.
