Get ready Muncie, IN: the new CBS reality series Armed & Famous, from Tom Forman Productions and Good TV Inc., will debut January 10 at 8p. During the series, five celebrities – Erik Estrada, La Toya Jackson, Jack Osbourne, along with professional skateboarder Jason "Wee-Man" Acuña and former WWE wrestler Trish Stratus, will train and become sworn police officers for the city of Muncie – population 70,000 and home to Ball State University. The show's producers have full cooperation from the Muncie police department, and the stars will learn everything from how to handle firearms and tasers to hand-to-hand combat. After completing the training course, each will be awarded a badge, a gun and be partnered with a veteran police officer. The show will move to its regular Wednesday night time period on January 17, airing at 8pm.
BBC America has renewed Footballers Wives: Overtime for a second season and will air eighteen new episodes starting January 14 at 10p.
Superstation WGN gained an additional 3 million households this year, taking its total to more than 70 million U.S. households. The network has increased by close to 12 million cable and satellite homes in the last two years.
Trekkie fans take note: beginning today at 12p PT/3p ET CBS Paramount Television and It's A Wrap! will host an online auction of Star Trek props and wardrobe items on eBay.com and at www.itsawraphollywood.com/. The objects for sale are from the 10 Star Trek films and five television series. Don't go crazy now, but remember, it is the holiday season ….
~ PRODUCTION AND DEVELOPMENT ~
Court TV has ordered 15 episodes of a new docu-series called Suburban Secrets, about the crime that occurs in small towns, the sometimes unlikely perpetrators, and the effect of those crimes on the town as a whole, as told by those who lived it. Per Hollywood Reporter, the show is expected to launch in first qtr 2007.
ABC has given the official go to two projects, both from Harpo Prods., Oprah Winfrey's recently created TV development group, per Variety. Oprah's plans to make any personal appearances on either show has not been formalized.
Casting Call: To coincide with the launch of Glow After Dark by JLo, the newest fragrance by Jennifer Lopez and Coty, young women will have a chance to audition for a new online reality series The Glow After Dark Show. The quasi-reality/soap opera/docu-drama webisode series is set to debut early next April with eight 15-minute episodes over four weeks. The producers are looking for five young women, four American and one British, who love the party scene and getting decked out for flirtatious nights on the town. A panel of judges, including Jennifer Lopez, will rate the online submissions and videos can be submitted starting today at www.glowafterdarkshow.com. The five winning Glow Girls will be whisked to New York for an all-expense paid two weeks where they will be filmed shopping, bonding together and hitting the clubs and restaurants.
~ EXECUTIVE MOVES ~
HBO/Cinemax has promoted Liza Kalikow to Assistant Manager/Program Planning and Scheduling and Pam Nemoto to Scheduler, reporting to Liza.
Goodman Media International has upped Sabrina Tanenbaum to Account Manager. Based in New York City, Sabrina specializes in media, corporate and entertainment clients.
Angela Cannon has been elevated to Director/Affiliate Marketing, Eastern Region at the Gospel Music Channel. Based in Atlanta, Angela will promote the network to cable affiliates in addition to creating marketing campaigns.
Jennifer Geisser joins the Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movie Channel as VP/Corporate Communications, where she will develop public relations campaigns targeting both trade and consumer media. She will be based in New York City and reports to David Kenin, EVP/Programming.
Discovery Networks, U.S. has bumped Bob Sitrick to SVP/Live Production and Special Projects. Bob will supervise the planning and operational functions of all live events for the network and will provide technical management for other special network event productions.

Wednesday - A18-49 Analysis: NBC was the winner Wednesday night with 4.4/12 A18-49, according to fast affiliate ratings from Nielsen Media Research. CBS was a close second with 4.3/12, followed by FOX 2.6/7, UNIV 1.9/5, ABC 1.6/4, CW 1.0/3 and TELE 0.4/1. At 8p and 9p, NBC weighed in at the top both hours with the finale of The Biggest Loser at 4.1/12 and 5.4/14 respectively. CBS took over at 10p and was #1 with CSI: NY at 4.9/14.
