When I was building a staff, I’d look at it like a family, thinking, That person is someone I’d love to hang out with. But I had to realize we’re not a family – we’re a team. You have to look at who has the strengths you need; who are your high performers? You need to be like a coach, to think about how you can help your people excel, and move positions if that’s necessary. And you need to be aware of how your needs change as your business evolves. You have to have a different set of standards when you look at it as a team rather than a family. And you know what? It’s lonely at the top.

Jeanmarie Condon has been named Senior Executive Producer of Content and Development for ABC News, with Almin Karamehmedovic taking Condon’s place as Executive Producer of Nightline. Karamehmedovic had been Senior Broadcast Producer at the news show.
Awesomeness TV hired Kelly Day as Chief Digital Officer. Day is the former CEO of Blip Networks.
Shannon O’Neill has been named president of Travel Channel, replacing Laureen Ong, who left in October. O’Neill had been the net’s Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
NBCUniversal appointed Mark Kornblau Senior Vice President, Communications for the News Group. Previously, Kornblau was Managing Director of Corporate Communications for JP Morgan Chase.
Susan Hummel has been hired by FremantleMedia International to head its new FremantleMedia Canada office as Senior Vice President of Distribution and Sales. Hummel, who had been Senior Vice President of U.S. Basic Cable and Canada Television Distribution for MGM, starts in March.
CMT named Morgan Selzer Vice President of Programming Development. Selzer comes from Style Network.
A+E Networks named Barry Jossen Executive Vice President of A+E Studios. Most recently, Jossen served as head of ABC Studios.
David Luner was promoted to President, Brand Partnerships and Franchise Management at FremantleMedia North America. Luner has held a number of positions at the company over the past decade, most recently assuming the interim role of Executive Vice President, Brand Partnerships and Franchise Management during the integration of FremantleMedia Enterprises into the FMNA corporate structure.
