TV viewers may be multitasking, but a new study from TiVo says most are glued to the program they’re watching. Over three-quarters of respondents surveyed said when a show is on that’s their primary focus, even if they’re online or at the stove; over 45 percent of TiVo users said TV was their only focus while watching. While 61 percent in the study report a smartphone is the device used most frequently during TV time, only 24 percent reported using one frequently while watching.

IN THE NEWS

Saturday Night Live‘s Lorne Michaels anointed head writer Colin Jost the late night sketch show’s new co-anchor of Weekend Update. Jost joins Cecily Strong, who started as co-anchor this fall, alongside Seth Meyers. Meyers leaves in February for NBC’s Late Night; Jost is the third head writer, after Tina Fey and Meyers, to slip behind the news desk.

On Time Warner Cable, TV Everywhere now includes A&E, History and Lifetime apps. TWC and, starting next week, Bright House Network subscribers will have access to full episodes, movies and exclusive clips, including current and previous seasons of Duck Dynasty (A&E), Pawn Stars (History) and Project Runway (Dance Moms) on iOS and Android phones, tablets and via the web, at no additional cost.

HBO is not bringing comedies Family Tree and Hello Ladies back for second seasons. Family Tree, starring Chris O’Dowd, was a co-production with the BBC and NBCUniversal International TV and aired in the U.K. as well as Stateside; Hello Ladies starred Stephen Merchant.

TNT acquired Transporter: the Series, a French-Canadian action drama and extension of the Transformer films, that had a successful first season internationally. “The Transporter franchise is a proven winner,” said TNT, TBS and TCM president Michael Wright, “embraced by movie and television audiences around the globe.” Show debuts in fall 2014.
