According to The Hollywood Reporter, CBS chief Les Moonves is likely to become chairman of the board following the death of Sumner Redstone, 92. Sources familiar with the situation confirmed the information, noting that a deal was struck with the mogul’s daughter, Shari Redstone. Sumner Redstone currently controls both CBS and Viacom through his National Amusements holding company. His interest will pass to his trust run by seven trustees, including his daughter, who has assured Moonves that he will assume chairmanship at CBS.
Mistakes happen. Hence, Steve Harvey would “absolutely” be welcomed back to host the 2016 Miss Universe Pageant, despite naming the wrong woman the winner at the 2015 ceremony. So said Mark Shapiro, Chief Content Officer for WME IMG, the company in charge of Sunday’s pageant, during a guest spot on Jim Rome‘s CBS Sports Radio Show on Tuesday. “He did a great job. He was funny. He was informative. He’s high energy. He’s got a great following…” noted Shapiro. “I definitely want him back.”
Want to ring in the New Year with Donald Trump? The GOP Presidential candidate is slated to join The Five‘s Kimberly Guilfoyle and Eric Bolling on Fox News Channel’s All-American New Year on Thursday, December 31 at 10p. Trump will appear live from Florida during the 11p hour for the countdown and stay on through midnight.
A&E has announced Wednesday, January 13 as the Season 9 premiere date for Duck Dynasty, featuring back-to-back episodes beginning at 9p. The season wraps on February 17 with a one-hour 100th episode, featuring a family road trip. The clan will move John Luke and Mary Kate into Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA.
Members of The Bachelor franchise are riding a spectacular float – complete with a working hot tub – at the 2016 Rose Parade Presented by Honda airing Friday, January 1 at 11a on ABC. Ben Higgins, who begins his journey to find love on the show’s 20th season premiere on Monday, January 4 at 8p, will be joined on the float by Jade Roper and Tanner Tolbert, who got engaged on last summer’s Bachelor in Paradise; Lacy Faddoul and Marcus Grodd, who wed at the beginning of the same season of Paradise; and Ashley Iaconetti and Samantha Steffen, alumna of Chris Soules’ season and Paradise.
BBC One has ordered a second series of Ordinary Lies to be set in a different location with a new cast. The first series, which reached an average audience of more than 6 million viewers, was set in a car showroom. The upcoming version takes place at the headquarters of a large national sports goods company.

House of Cards EP/director David Fincher is collaborating with Charlize Theron on Mindhunter, a new drama for Netflix. The series is based on the 1996 book Mind Hunter: Inside the FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit by former special agent John Douglas, who pursued some of the most notorious serial killers and rapists, and Mark Olshaker.
Encore kicks off 2016 with a 24-hour marathon of The A-Team on Thursday, December 31 at 7p on Encore Classic. It features favorite episodes including Hulk Hogan’s guest-starring appearance, Murdoch’s big win on Wheel of Fortune, and B.A.’s (Mr. T) fighting moves in the boxing ring. The 80s classic will continue airing weekdays, Monday through Friday at 7:50p, beginning Monday, January 4 on Encore Classic.
Nathan Lane joins the annual New Year’s Eve broadcast of Live From Lincoln Center, airing Thursday, December 31 at 8p on PBS. (Check local listings). This year’s edition features a New York Philharmonic celebration of Paris with Lane narrating Saint-Saens’ Carnival of the Animals.
BET network is also closing out the year with special programming. BET’s 20 of 2015, airing Tuesday, December 29 at 10p, highlights the most pivotal moments of the year. On Thursday, December 31 at 11p, 106 & Party rings in the New Year from NYC hotspot Stage 48 with host KeKe Palmer, correspondent Kat Graham and Rotimi. BET Life of Brandy, celebrating the career of the singer/actress, follows on Friday, January 1 at 10p.
Univision presents a New Year’s Eve coast-to-cost celebration with iFELIZ 2016!, airing Thursday, December 31 at 8p. The 7-hour special, broadcast live from Times Square in New York City, Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, Disneyland Resort in California, Mexico City and Puebla, Mexico, features a special performance by La Banda’s CNCO.
Evil Lives Here premieres Sunday, January 17 at 10p on Investigation Discovery. The series explores true stories of people who have shared a home and life with a loved one who becomes a killer.
My Diet Is Better Than Yours premieres Thursday, January 7 on ABC. Hosted by Shaun T, creator of workout “Insanity,” the show matches contestants with experts, each of whom are using different diet and exercise plans in a race to shed pounds.
CMT competition series Redneck Island returns for a fifth season with a special Battle At The Lake edition, premiering Thursday, January 28 at 10p. Melissa Rycroft joins Steve Austin to preside over 10 new episodes of the series. This time around, 12 new contestants face off against 12 returning fan-favorites from the previous season to compete for a $100,000 cash prize.
Australian actor David Coussins has nabbed a recurring role in the second half of Pretty Little Liars‘ sixth season, portraying Hanna’s (Ashley Benson) fiance. Series returns Tuesday, January 12 at 8p, when ABC Family transitions to Freeform.
Michelle Yeoh (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) is joining Netflix drama Marco Polo. The show’s second season release is slated for some time in 2016.

Celebrity Name Game (1.3, up 8 percent) outperformed Who Wants To Be A Millionaire (1.2, steady) for the first time ever. Wheel of Fortune (7.0, steady) led the category. Family Feud (6.4, up 8 percent) jumped into second place with Jeopardy (6.3, down 2 percent) slipping to third.
Only two talkers moved up as the holidays neared. Steve Harvey (1.8 live plus same day national Nielsen rating, up 6 percent from the week before) hit its second best rating of the season. Jerry Springer (1.3, up 8 percent) equaled its season high. Among W25-54, both Harvey (1.0 demo rating, up 25 percent) and Springer (0.8 demo rating, up 14 percent) also surged.
USA Network is on track to finish the year as the most watched ad-supported cable entertainment network for its 10th consecutive year. Fueled by series including Mr. Robot, Suits and WWE Monday Night Raw, USA’s streak continued with 1.81MM total viewers P2+.
Powered by its 18th annual 25 Days of Christmas, ABC Family ranked as the #1 cable network in Prime for the third straight week among Viewers 12-34, across key target female demos, and in A18-34 and A18-49. With only one week remaining in 2015, the network is the #1 cable TV network in Prime for the 2nd-consecutive year in Women 18-34, a Top 5 cable TV network for the 7th year running in Women 18-49 (#4) and Females 12-34 (#2).
With Sunday Night Football, two telecasts of The Voice and Adele Live in New York City accounting for four of the week’s top five prime time programs on the Big 4 networks, NBC won the ratings week of December 14 to 20 in A18-49, while ranking #1 or tied for #1 among those networks in all other key demographics. According to Live+SD viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research, NBC averaged a 2.0 rating, 7 share in A18-49 and 7.7 million viewers overall for the week.
The Big Bang Theory delivered the largest Live+3 day audience of any scripted program this season and the comedy’s biggest L+3 audience in nearly two years, according to Nielsen Live+3 day ratings for Thursday, December 17. The series averaged 23.00 million viewers representing an additional 5.77 million from 17.23 million viewers from its live + same day average. Among A18-49, the show added +2.3 (6.4 from 4.1), its best delivery since the season premiere, and +2.7 in A25-54 (8.7 from 6.0), its best delivery since February 9, 2015.
ABC’s The Great Christmas Light Fight finale built week to week with Total Viewers (up 34 percent – 5.9 million vs. 4.4 million) and A18-49 (up 18 percent – 1.3/4 vs. 1.1/3) to deliver its best numbers this season on both counts. The Great Holiday Baking Show finale grew from the prior week in Total Viewers (up 45 percent – 4.8 million vs. 3.3 million) and A18-49 (up 22 percent – 1.1/4 vs. 0.9/3), drawing the show’s biggest-ever audience and a best-since-premiere rating with young adults (since 11/30/15).
This holiday season, Hallmark Channel remains the reigning champ in cable as the most watched network in primetime and total day among women 25-54, as well as #1 in primetime among total viewers (excluding sports and news), since the October 30 launch of Countdown to Christmas. The network was also the #1-rated and most watched on cable this past weekend among households and total viewers, boosted by the premieres of original movies, A Christmas Melody and Christmas Land, and the special, Mariah’s Merriest Christmas, which garnered a 1.9 HH rating and 2.2 million total viewers, becoming the most watched holiday special in Hallmark history.
