PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT

BBC 2 has commissioned a film from Simon and Jonathan Chinn’s Lightbox on the rise and precipitous fall of Harvey Weinstein. The 90-minute doc will feature interviews with women who have accused Weinstein of sexual harassment and worse, as well as journalists and Hollywood insiders, some of whom have not yet spoken publicly. “This film promises to be the definitive take on the Weinstein scandal,” said Tom McDonald, head of commissioning, natural history and specialist factual. “As well as revealing the inside story of the past few months in minute detail, it will also look to the past to tell the story of abuses of power within Hollywood since its very origins and chart the rise of Harvey Weinstein himself over many decades.”

NEW & RETURNING SERIES

Our Cartoon President, from Stephen Colbert and Chris Licht, debuts on Showtime Sunday, February 11 at 8p, ahead of the season premiere of Homeland. COMING UP

Tonight is the finale of Nat Geo’s The Long Road Home, a dramatization of the heroism on the front lines of the Iraq War. What can viewers expect? “The finale episode marks the series’ emotional apex, where we witness the aftermath of Black Sunday, the devastating loss of life alongside stories of hope and heroism. The audience will get an even deeper understanding of why we thought it was so essential to tell this story of everyday heroes and the terrible price of war,” Carolyn Bernstein, EVP, head of global scripted development and production at National Geographic, tells Cynopsis. “We are especially proud to present the accompanying documentary, also from Martha Raddatz, that will air after the finale. It’s a powerful piece of filmmaking that catches up with the Gold Star families and the surviving soldiers and their families who have all inspired the series.“

The Family I Had premieres on ID Thursday, December 21 at 9p. Documentary shows the different layers in the story of a woman whose teenage son killer her daughter.
