NEW PROGRAMMING + DEALS

 
Andy Samberg
’s Lonely Island production venture announced the first three shows for its Party Over Here initiative to develop digital content that will potentially find a home on Fox and FX linear platforms. Primarily distributed on OTT services such as Hulu and Roku will be sci-fi comedy The Tyler Zone, Topics With Andre Hyland and mockumentary series Home for the Weekend. Lonely Island’s Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone will produce the shows, with Billy Rosenberg (Date night) leading production and development.
 
Conde Nast Entertainment unveiled a new series with YouTube’s Erick Beck and Justin Johnson of The Indie Machines channel. Wired’s Gadget Challenge has the duo test out gizmos from the Wired store. CNE previously collaborated with Beck and Johnson on Battle Damage.
 
Netflix ordered an original documentary from Oscar-nominated filmmaker Liz Garbus (The Farm: Angola, USA) about singer/songwriter and civil rights activist Nina Simone. The doc, called What Happened, Miss Simone? will hit the service next year.
 
PowerwomenTV
teamed up with Time Inc to launch The Climb, which focuses on successful female celebrities and entrepreneurs. Created by Amy Palmer, subjects include: Tamara Mellon (Jimmy Choo), June Ambrose (stylist), Crystal Renn (plus size model), Dj Chelsea Leyland and blogger Arielle Nachmani (Something Navy). The Climb will live on People.com, Instyle.com and on the Time Inc platform (170 million uniques per month).
 
The movie Russell Madness, from Fandango and Air Bud Entertainment, will debut Feb. 21 as part of the Fandango Family Screening Series and promote Fandango’s online destination. Russell stars John Ratzenberger (Toy Story), Fred Willard (Modern Family), and David Milchard (Convos with my 2-Year Old). Plot revolves around a talking Jack Russell Terrier who accidentally becomes a professional wrestler.

In time for Neflix’s Marco Polo series debut on Dec. 12, the streaming service is testing a new Tweet Me a Reminder alert embedded within tweets about the show. When users click on a button, they receive a reply-reminder of the show’s premiere date. The message will also include a custom video from the cast.
 
People Now
, the daily live online show presented by Toyota on People.com, revealed that Dean Cain (Merry ExMas), Adriana Lima (Victoria Secret Fashion Show), John O’Hurley (Seinfeld), and the cast of Annie (Jamie Foxx, Cameron Diaz) will make guest appearances this week. The 20-minute program consists of interviews, entertainment updates, and news and human-interest stories Monday-Friday at 8:30a ET.

The audience cared about brands such as BuzzFeed, Disney, and Playbill, while they favored celebrities Anna Kendrick and Broadway star Kristin Chenoweth. NBC drew in some of ABC viewers based on their TV show preferences as well, including Modern Family, Glee, and Once Upon A Time.”
