NEW PROGRAMMING + DEALS

 
Maker Studios launched comedy series CrashPad across Maker platforms today. The series stars Bart Baker (more than one billion views on his YT channel), and is co-produced by Maker and Drama ¾. The series will also feature appearances by other digitally native talent such as Maker partners Amy Pham, Iman “AlphaCat” Crosson, Ed Bassmaster, Sam Macaroni, and Timothy DeLaGhetto, along with Shane Dawson, Lisa Shwartz, DeStorm, King Bach, and Jesse Wellens of Prank vs. Prank. The 12-episodes (11 minutes each) will broadcast every Friday at 9p ET on Music Choice VOD platform, Music Choice Play, Maker.tv and YouTube.
 
MiTu
is taking a sneak peek into the lives of top YouTube creators and social influencers in the new digital series MiTu Holiday House. Beauty and lifestyle celebs Maiah Ocando, Daniel Fernandez, Guzii and others will hang out in MiTu’s holiday home in Bel Air to chat about their lives and create holiday-themed videos. New episodes will premiere every Wednesday and Thursday at 4p PT on MiTu Life.
 
YouTube’s Fine Bros. Entertainment is developing a feature-length teen comedy with Big Block Entertainment Group, which will take on a Mean Girls spin. Benny and Rafi Fine will write, direct and produce the film, and Big Block’s Tom Pellegrini (Jiro Dreams of Sushi) and Scott Prisand (Rock of Ages) will produce with Scott Benson (Heathers: The Musical) executive producing.
 
Above Average debuted a new holiday-themed stop-motion animated series with Oreo, called Deck the Balls. TJ Miller (Silicon Valley) and his sister Morgan Miller voice the show, with new episodes rolling out the next two Wednesdays.

CONTENT MEDIA
 

The latest episode of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee hit Crackle yesterday, featuring Fred Armisen (Portlandia) and Jerry Seinfeld cruising the streets of Portland, Oregon. Additionally, a special bonus episode was released with “President of Worldwide Production FOR Sony’s Crackle Division” Dick Corcoran (played by former Seinfeld co-star Michael Richards). Ali Wentworth and Jimmy Fallon will finish out the season on Dec. 11 and Dec. 18.
 
The new comedy web series Life in Your Social Network released its second episode yesterday on YouTube. The new ep includes the actor Tom Sizemore (Black Hawk Down, Saving Private Ryan), and continues to follow a group of characters as they navigate life when their social media networks become reality. LIYSN was written and directed by Hunter Davis, and produced by Create Produce Exploit. The third ep will hit YT later this month.
 
With the Bravo Emmy-winning digital video series Top Chef: Last Chance Kitchen returning on Dec. 10 at 11p ET, the network released the first teaser on BravoTV.com. In the premiere, the first eliminated chefs from Bravo’s Top Chef will face off on the digital series, with one chef continuing in the competition until just one is left standing for a spot in the Top Chef finale.
 
TV Land is giving viewers a look at Younger, its newest original series from Sex and the City creator Darren Star, with a newly released extended scene: http://youtu.be/m-sRRDudUR4. Now shooting in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, the series, which stars Sutton Foster, Hilary Duff, Debi Mazar, Miriam Shor and Nico Tortorella, premieres Tuesday, March 31 at 10p. "Younger’ has an irresistible take on secrets, sex and second chances,” said Larry W. Jones, President of TV Land. “The series will now serve as the launching pad for the network’s new edgier comedies including Impastor, Teachers and The Jim Gaffigan Show, which will premiere later in the spring and summer.”
 
Krysten Ritter (Don’t Trust the B­ in Apartment 23) has been tapped to star in Marvel’s Netflix series Jessica Jones, according to The Hollywood Reporter.  She’ll play the title character, a superhero suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder that leads her to hang up her costume and open her own detective agency.

Eyeview announced a new programmatic ad campaign with American Family Insurance, with spots that target viewers based on their nearest AFI agent. Eyeview Head of Midwest Sales Walter Yang said, “By employing personalized video advertising, American Family Insurance has established a highly effective way to connect with consumers on an individual level.”
 
SpotXchange reported net revenue growth for the first three quarters of 2014 of 136 percent compared to the first three quarters of 2013, with programmatic revenue increasing by 282 percent. Mobile also represented the fastest growing department, with mobile and connected TV revenues increasing 84 percent from Q2 to Q3 in 2014.
 
MRM//McCann acquired digital eCommerce consulting firm Optaros. Founded in 20014, Optaros will remain headquartered in Boston as a unit within MRM//McCann and continue to be led by CEO Rob Willms.

Three Olives Vodka and The Via Agency enlisted popular YouTube musician Masha Shirin (her videos have more than 30 million views) to perform the 1978 classic Werewolves of London in their new campaign. Over a series of several short clips, the half-human, half-wolf of a character prowls the London bar scene for prey (and cocktails using the Three Olives Vodka) to the song’s remake.
