Apple is close to sealing an order for an untitled Richard Gere-starring drama series from Howard Gordon and Warren Leight based on Israeli series Nevelot. Project hails from Fox 21 Television Studios, Gordon’s Teakwood Lane Productions and Keshet Studios. Series centers on two elderly Vietnam vets and best friends who find their monotonous lives upended when a woman they both loved five decades ago is killed in a car accident.
Classic Rod Serling anthology series Night Gallery is getting a reboot via Syfy, where Teen Wolf creator/exec producer Jeff Davis and Midnight, Texas exec producer David Janollari have seen their project picked up for development. It will be co-produced by Universal TV, where David Janollari Entertainment is based, and Universal Cable Productions.
Comedy Central inked an overall deal with Chris Distefano that includes exclusive on- and off-camera services as well as a first look at content created/developed for any platform. The deal covers several projects already in development, including an hour-long stand-up special, an animated series, an unscripted series and the continuation of the network’s interstitial series Stupid Questions with Chris Distefano.
Scout Productions, the production house behind Netflix’s Queer Eye reboot, hired three new executives: Joel Chiodi as SVP, strategic development, Sean Perez as VP, production, and Renata Lombardo as VP, talent and development. Chiodi has held exec stints at Legendary Pictures, Paramount Pictures and NFL Network; Perez has been an exec with NBC, Fox, MTV and others; and Lombardo has been a producer on USA’s Christly Knows Best and held in-house roles at ABC and OWN.

Whistle on Wednesday, December 12, will debut the series My Hustle on YouTube, highlighting some of the brightest minds of today’s generation and how they’ve transformed an interest into a successful career.
Saving face: Pimple-popping dermatologist Dr. Lee, aka Dr. Pimple Popper, returns to TLC with new episodes Thursday, January 3, at 9p.
Investigation Discovery programming event “The Lake Erie Murders” premieres with three-hour special Who Killed Amy Mihaljevic? on Sunday, December 30 from 9-12p. The special continues for four subsequent weeks of standalone episodes telling haunting murder mysteries beginning on Sunday, January 6 at 10p.
Colton Underwood steps into the spotlight when the 23rd edition of ABC’s The Bachelor premieres with a live three-hour special on Monday, January 7, at 8p. That’s an extra hour of premiere drama, for anyone who’s counting.
Following its series Air Disasters, which has uncovered shocking revelations behind aviation calamities for 11 seasons, Smithsonian Channel expands its probe into the world of maritime incidents in new series Disasters at Sea, premiering Sunday, January 13, at 9p.

RFD-TV, The Cowboy Channel and Rural Radio announced Wrangler National Finals rodeo coverage in new show Rodeo Las Vegas, which airs live daily beginning Thursday, December 6, at 8:30p through Saturday, December 15.
TeleXitos will air a Legends of the Desert December movie presentation that includes all movies from The Mummy trilogy and the Scorpion King franchise. The action starts today (December 7) at 8p.
Telemundo Deportes will present live coverage of the second leg of the River-Boca Copa Libertadores final this Sunday, December 9, from Madrid, beginning at 2p. In addition, the net will present exclusive coverage of the FIFA Club World Cup UAE 2018 beginning Wednesday, December 12.
The I Love Lucy Christmas Special, airing Friday, December 14, at 8p, will feature “The Christmas Episode” and the newly colorized “Pioneer Women” ep. The Dick Van Dyke Show – Now In Living Color, will follow at 9p and feature season 1 ep “Where Did I Come From” and season 4 ep “Never Bathe on Saturday,” both written by Carl Reiner.
Fail State, a Starz-acquired docu feature exec-produced by Dan Rather and examining the dark side of higher education, will air exclusively on Starz on Monday, December 17, at 9p.

Comcast joined Movies Anywhere, enabling Xfinity TV customers to combine movie purchases made across Xfinity TV platforms with those they’ve purchased from other Movies Anywhere digital retailers. Comcast is the first pay-TV provider to join the movie service, which launched last year in the U.S.
Cinedigm announced plans to launch matchpoint, a managed-service tech platform that enables content distributors, OTT service operators, web publishers and OEMs to cost-effectively create OTT and media subscription services. Key features of the platform include intuitive OTT applications, support for mixed-media content types and support for third-party distribution.
Turner’s Watch TCM will launch on Roku devices via an app that provides on demand access to TCM’s curated content presented uncut and commercial free including introductions by primetime host Ben Mankiewicz and hosts Alicia Malone and Dave Karger.

In case anyone was still wondering whether Netflix is serious about kids content, Chris Nee, creator and exec producer of two of Disney Junior’s most successful series, Doc McStuffins and Vampirina, inked a multiyear deal with the streamer. Nee will write and produce new animated and live-action series for preschool and all audiences exclusively for Netflix, which also will have a first-look option on feature film projects from Nee and her production company, Laughing Wild.
New Nickelodeon buddy comedy series Cousins For Life will premiere on Saturday, January 5, at 8:30p. Live-action series follows 12-year-old cousins and best friends Stuart (Dallas Dupree Young) and Ivy (Scarlet Spencer) as they learn to navigate life under one roof with their families in Portland despite being from very different backgrounds.
Stanley Tucci (A Private War) will star opposite Jessica Biel in Facebook Watch’s Limetown. Marlee Matlin (Quantico), Kelly Jenrette (The Handmaid’s Tale), John Beasley (Shots Fired) and Louis Ferreira (Travelers) also scored roles in the series… Lauren London (The Game), Parker McKenna Posey (My Wife and Kids) and Karen Obilom (Insecure, NCIS: New Orleans) will lead scripted drama Games Divas Play (working title) for BET… Coral Pena (24: Legacy) snagged a recurring role opposite Morris Chestnut and Jennifer Carpenter in NBC’s The Enemy Within.
Germany is the latest cook in the kitchen as Top Chef heads to that country via a deal between NBC Universal International Formats and broadcaster Sat.1. The broadcaster ordered a six-part local series to air in summer 2019.
