Two days after Fox entertainment chairman Kevin Reilly announced his net was giving up pilot season, CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler acknowledged at the TCA press tour that while “pilot season isn’t perfect,” it works for her network. “It’s frustrating,” acknowledged Tessler, “but also it’s exciting.” The CW is staying the game, too. Remarked CW president Mark Pedowitz at the TCA, “Pilot season works well for us.”
Pedowitz also announced that a digital spinoff of Veronica Mars will air on the CW Seed site, with series creator Rob Thomas onboard. For a show that got canceled in 2007, Veronca’s getting a lot of action: a Kickstarter-funded Veronica film will be released in March, and the drama just started streaming on Amazon Prime.
