That’s what she said: Under a new deal with NBCUniversal , Comedy Central extended its exclusive cable deal for The Office through 2021, with the series continuing to air through 2025 in a non-exclusive window on Viacom Media Networks. Viacom also renewed its deal for Parks and Recreation; all 125 episodes will be available to air on Comedy Central through 2024.

Superstar singer Taylor Swift isn’t shaking off ongoing issues over music rights to her songs , warning fans last week that her planned performance at the American Music Awards on November 24, along with a Netflix documentary about her career and all other recorded events until November 2020 are “a question mark” because of a dispute with Big Machine Records. Swift urged fans, as well as artists managed by her former record label, to intervene on her behalf with Big Machine and its new owner, Scooter Braun. A social media scuffle ensued in which Big Machine accused Taylor of enlisting her fan base “in a calculated manner” and closed early on Friday, allegedly because of death threats made to staff;  Swift’s team said Big Machine is trying to distract from claims of unpaid royalties.

The top 100 most valuable US brands are worth a total of $3.81 trillion dollars , more than the GDP of Germany, according to WPP and Kantar’s 2020 BrandZ ranking. Fastest risers sere Instagram (#31, $28.88bn) grew 98% in brand value, followed by Pinterest (+45%), Salesforce (+40%), Chipotle (+33%), and Cisco (31%). The brands consumers see as the most “meaningfully different” have grown their value 44% faster since 2018 than the least meaningfully different brands. The US leads all other markets on innovation, with 36% of all US brands ranking highly on this measure; the most innovative brand is Uber, followed by Amazon, Netflix, Disney and FedEx. According to consumers, Uber, FedEx, Pampers, UPS and Amazon provide the best customer experience.

What’s the takeaway for US advertisers? ”Winning with consumers begins with winning in their hearts and minds. They must know about you to even consider you, but given our current state of attention elasticity, they must care about you to choose you,” Victoria Sakal, Associate Director, Kantar, tells Cynopsis. “Mattering more to consumers comes from being more relevant – meaningfully different – to them through greater insight on the things they care about, and also from playing a more active yet strategic role in more aspects of consumers’ lives: in advertising, on the retail shelf, and in our daily regimens.”

A combined CBS and Viacom will “absolutely have enough scale” to compete against larger media and tech firms, said CBS Corp. and Viacom vice chair Shari Redstone at Paley’s International Council Summit. “We not only have the scale, we have a track record of producing hits. I think we’re in a very good position to compete going forward.” As for how this merger will compare to the merger of Viacom and CBS in 2000 (undone in 2006), “These companies were together before but never were they integrated the way this company is going to be integrated now,” she said. “We are one culture, one set of values, one strategy and one team.”

Inaugural superfan experience BravoCon sashayed into NY this weekend, complete with ticketed panels, dinners, a Vanderpump Rules after-party and the biggest-ever Watch What Happens Live, featuring 76 of the network’s talent – from OGs to newbies – and an audience of 2,000. Cynopsis snagged a few minutes with master of ceremonies Andy Cohen, who said the concept of a multi-day event where fans could interact with their fave Bravolebrities has been percolating for 10 years. “Frances Berwick, who’s the head of Bravo, just said, ‘We’re going to do it this year,’ and I said, ‘I’ll do whatever you want and please let me be involved in what you’re talking about for panels because I would like to have a little input if I could,” he said. Cohen, who described Bravo fans as “passionate, educated, urbane, fun,” said he expects he’ll have a “happy hangover” this morning after all the festivities, and hopes the excitement resonated well beyond the physical walls. “My hope is that even for the people who weren’t able to be here, they will have experienced it on social media and by watching Watch What Happens Live. I haven’t gotten to go to all [the activations] yet and it’s been cool to experience that on social media, just with people tagging me in their stories.”

What’s on tap for 2020? “I want to see bigger, bigger, bigger next year,” Cohen said. “I think Bravo very smartly decided to start small with BravoCon and I always ascribe to starting small and getting it right, and then growing. Hopefully next year it’ll be 20 times the size.” The network also broke some news at the event. Announcements included the launch of a new Top Chef All Stars LA edition for season 17 in 2020, the addition of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City to the 15-year-old franchise and new RHONY cast member Leah McSweeney. Asked the secret to the staying power of the Real Housewives, Cohen said, “People love to observe and judge human behavior. This is sociology.”

James Holzhauer, whose 32-game Jeopardy winning streak made headlines this summer, won the game show’s Tournament of Champions event last week. Holzhauer’s winnings now total $2,712,216, third best after Ken Jennings and Brad Rutter.

Fox Sports has sold 60 of 77 available Super Bowl LIV spots , “pacing well ahead” of plans, Seth Winter, Fox’s EVP for sports sales told Bloomberg. Price for one 30-second spot is a record $5.6 million, with a possible price hike for the last few slots.

Dylan and Paris Brosnan, sons of Pierce Brosnan , will serve as the 2020 Golden Globe ambassadors, helping distribute statuettes at the ceremony taking place on Sunday, January 5 at 8p on NBC. As part of the philanthropic piece of the assignment, the brothers will work with FEED, which delivers meals to children. “Dylan and Paris Brosnan have already achieved tremendous success in the fashion world and are following in their father’s footsteps in entertainment. We’re excited to see how they’ll use this platform to contribute their talents to elevate the important issue of childhood hunger,” said President of the HFPA Lorenzo Soria.

FX Networks and True Colors United are joining forces in support of National Runaway Prevention Month , a campaign designed to raise awareness around the youth homelessness crisis. Throughout November, FX Networks will provide custom  Pose t-shirts to be sold by True Colors United, with all profits to be used toward implementing solutions for homelessness among LGBTQ youth.
