Multi-channel networks still prove a hot commodity: European broadcasting company RTL Group is close to acquiring beauty and fashion MCN StyleHaul. Variety reports the deal is expected to close within the next two weeks, with an undisclosed price tag. RTL already owns a stake in the MCN, previously investing $6 million in the company. StyleHaul has more than 199 million subscribers, 17 billion video views and 4,900 channels.
is bringing back City.Ballet for a second season on Nov. 4 on AOL On platforms. The 12-episode docu-series takes viewers behind-the-scenes of the New York City Ballet and its dancers. The show is executive produced by Sarah Jessica Parker, and sponsored by Citi.
The newest Animal Planet L!VE live streaming cams are scaring up some Halloween hijinks. APL debuted its new Zombie Cam, which will show a 24-hour stream of a zombie roaming the halls of the network’s offices. AP is asking viewers to keep an eye on the undead star by posting on Facebook and Twitter with the hashtag #ZombieCam. The cams can be viewed at APL.TV, Xbox, Roku, Smartsung Smart TVs and desktop and mobile devices.
Digital movie-ticketing service Fandango added seven new cinemas, reaching more than 25,000 movie screens in its network. The deal includes the eighth largest U.S. theater circuit, Bow Tie Cinemas, along with Classic Cinemas, Megaplex Theatres, UltraStar Cinemas, Dipson Theatres, Cinepolis and Hollywood’s TCL Chinese Theatres.
Comedy Central premiered its newest web series New Timers on CC: Studios yesterday. The series is written and directed by Good Cop Bad Cop’s Matt Porter and Charlie Hankin, and stars the two as they live their lives after a global collapse that has eliminated the government and annihilated the world’s population. Sounds like fun. The first three episodes are available at cc.com/shows/new-timers.
Vimeo premieres the docu-style thriller Searching for Katie, produced by viral video blogger Taryn Southern, on Vimeo On Demand today (Tuesday). The documentary follows Southern as she tries to find her friend’s sister, who has been missing for eight months. Along with the release, Southern will host a live Twitter chat at 8p ET today with the hashtag #Searchingforkate. Viewers who buy the film will also have access to exclusive related content on Vimeo.

, Netflix and Amazon Prime will spend $6.8 billion in 2015 for syndication rights to TV shows and movies, according to RBC Capital Markets Analyst David Bank. Variety reports that Netflix will contribute $3.3 billion to the total, Hulu will add $1.5 billion and Amazon will kick in $1.7 billion. The three platforms invested $5.2 billion in the year prior. However, the estimate is relatively small compared to cable spend on SVOD: Bank predicts a spend of $18.4 billion in the next year.
Taylor Swift’s 1989 Secret Session with iHeartRadio
streamed on Yahoo Live and iHeartRadio.com yesterday. The “secret” event started at 7:30p ET, and was synchronized with the LED tower lights on the Empire State Building during Swift’s performance.


Advertisers ran 35 percent of video campaigns on Videology platforms in Q3 across multiple devices in the U.S., representing a 59 percent increase quarter-over-quarter. Other key findings from Videology’s Third Quarter U.S. Video Market At-A-Glance Report include: 91 percent of video campaigns were bought in a traditional TV-like manner, opposed to RTB; 25 percent of all impressions running on platforms in Q3 were CPG ads; 39 percent of impressions landed on News websites, double the year prior (15 percent in Q3 2013); 64 percent of all ads in Q3 were 15- second spots. “The growth in cross-screen campaigns validates that…marketers see the value in using data to reach their consumers, and is further proof that advertisers are seeing enhanced performance in reaching consumers across multiple devices,” CEO and Chairman Scott Ferber said.

Digital media management company YANGAROO Inc. has announced a strategic relationship with Media 360 Partners to expand YANGAROO services and visibility in Los Angeles and other West Coast Markets. In this new partnership, YANGAROO will leverage Media 360 Partners’ domain and market knowledge to increase its customer base with advertising firms, post-production houses and client brands.


Amazon is ramping up its OTT game, introducing a Fire TV Stick to compete with Google’s Chromecast and Roku’s streaming stick. Amazon is touting that the $39 device has 50 percent more processing power than Chromecast and six times that of the Roku stick; the device also includes a remote and a voice-enabled search function. Similar to its rivals, the stick will provide access to TV, movie and gaming apps and photos and videos with the Amazon Cloud Drive. The device will begin shipping on Nov. 19.

Conde Nast appointed Fred Santarpia as Executive Vice President and Chief Digital Officer. For the past two years, Santarpia was Executive Vice President and Chief Development Officer of the digital arm of Conde Nast Entertainment. Additionally, Edward Menicheschi was named Chief Marketing Officer and President of the Conde Nast Media Group, and Lisa Valentino will expand her role to Chief Revenue Officer at CNE.

Viacom Media NetworksAnthony Barton has been named Senior Vice President of Creative and Marketing, and VMN vet Adam Steingart has been named Senior Vice President of Integrated Marketing for CMT, Viacom Velocity. Barton has been serving as Senior Vice President Integrated Marketing at the network. Steingart, who recently served as VP Integrated Marketing for Comedy Central/Spike/TV Land, returns to CMT after a two-year absence.
