AutoTrader.com entered a multiyear renewal of its partnership with Turner Sports and the NBA that will see the brand continue its role as the presenting sponsor of NBA on TNT Premiere Week presented by AutoTrader.com, TNT NBA Tip-Off presented by AutoTrader.com, and all NBA TV pregame shows. Overall, AutoTrader.com will partner with TNT and NBA TV to provide sponsorship elements to more than 200 combined NBA games during the 2014-15 season, including programming during the preseason, regular season, NBA All-Star 2015, and NBA Playoffs. AutoTrader.com and Turner Sports will also team up to produce a new linear and digital franchise titled, Celebrating 10 Years that will look back at some of the best moments from the past 10 seasons of TNT NBA Tip-Off presented by AutoTrader.com.

Speaking of the NBA, Turner Sports plans to tip of the season in style. The company booked plans to launch Kia NBA Tip-Off ’14 with a pair of NBA doubleheader and live broadcasts as well as on-site attractions in New York City and Cleveland. The daylong New York City attraction tips off in Times Square at 10a and features fan events including signings from players, performances from the Knicks’ drumline, kids dance teams and more. Other attractions will include a Samsung GALAXY-branded basketball court, NBA 2K15 gaming lounge, NBA Game Time app demo area, a NBA on TNT social media vending machine, Samsung GALAXY Experience and a massive video board from which fans can watch the evening’s NBA on TNT coverage. In addition to the Times Square takeover, a replica of the NBA on TNT studio desk will pop up at various locations throughout NYC on Tuesday to celebrate the start of season. On Oct. 30, the party hits Cleveland for its Thursday coverage, featuring a musical performance from Kendrick Lamar, whose new single “i” provides the musical backdrop to the NBA on TNT’s start of season coverage. The free fan event will open at 4p and feature appearances by the Cavalier Girls dance team, the Scream Team hip-hop troupe and more.
FOX Sports 1 announced that UFC star Daniel Cormier has been named the co-host of UFC Tonight, where he will join co-host and former UFC multiple title contender Kenny Florian, as well as Karyn Bryant and Ariel Helwani every Wednesday at 8p. Cormier also serves as a regular UFC on FOX analyst, appearing on prefight and postfight show FOX, FOX Sports 1 and FOX Sports 2.
CBS Sports Network announced plans to run a documentary about Nate Northington, the first African American football player in the SEC, entitled Forward Progress: The Integration of SEC Football. The special will run on Feb. 16 at 8p on the channel and examine the impact his arrival had on the University of Kentucky, the SEC, and the sports and cultural landscape in the US.
BTN slated the return of The Journey: Big Ten Football 2014 for a third season for 7p on Wednesday. The season premiere will go behind the scenes with Nebraska running back Ameer Abdullah and his family; Michigan State wide receiver Tony Lippett; and Indiana’s electric wide receiver Shane Wynn.
SEC Network named its talent roster for its coverage of 118 Southeastern Conference men’s basketball games this season. Faces include Dave Baker, Barry Booker, Joe Dean Jr., Daymeon Fishback, Tom Hart, Darrin Horn, Dave Neal, Will Perdue and Jon Sundvold highlighting the SEC Network’s basketball commentating roster. In addition, the network has hired former SEC men’s basketball players Dane Bradshaw (Tennessee) and Tony Delk (Kentucky) as SEC Network analysts.

The NHL details plans for its annual Hockey Fights Cancer initiative, set to run from Oct. 20 Nov. 17 that will see the NHLPA and NHL distribute more than $200,000 in grants to national and local cancer organizations in all 30 NHL markets. The campaign is set to include: commemorative merchandise; in-store donations; in-arena awareness night; NHL Social; and National Broadcast Night on Nov 5 at 8p on NBCSN. In addition, EA Sports, throughout the campaign, will showcase the initiative in NHL 15 and donate $10,000 to Hockey Fights Cancer.
Winn-Dixie is heading back to NASCAR via a new partnership with Talladega Superspeedway to sponsor the Winn-Dixie 300 NASCAR Xfinity Series race on Saturday, May 2, 2015.
The Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC), the licensing affiliate of IMG College, inked a deal to become the exclusive licensing agent for the new College Football Playoff. The company will focus on protecting, managing and developing the new CFP brand and trademarks in a new six-year agreement as well as identify best-in-class licensees in select product categories and channels of distribution. Forty total licensees have been selected to use the CFP trademarks, so far.
Speaking of which, the Collegiate Licensing Company also announced a new multi-year extension with the University of Connecticut Huskies to continue managing the school’s trademark licensing program. Under the agreement, UConn will continue to leverage CLC’s brand protection, brand management and brand development services through a comprehensive trademark licensing program customized exclusively for the university.
