Jerry Seinfeld’s Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee is returning for a fifth season starting Nov. 6 on Crackle platforms. The two-time Emmy nominated series will bring on guests like Fred Armisen (Portlandia), Jimmy Fallon (The Tonight Show), Amy Schumer (Inside Amy Schumer), Kevin Hart (Think Like A Man Too) and others as Seinfeld drives them around New York City to coffee shops.
 
YouTube celeb Michelle Phan is teaming up with Cutting Edge Group to launch the Shift Music Group, a new company to showcase up-and-coming musical acts through social media. Cutting Edge Group distributes music services and investment capital for Hollywood films. The new venture may be tied to Phan’s own current legal battle with the use of licensed music on her YT vids.
 
Fullscreen signed a deal with We Are The Hits, a digital video network that helps musicians legally create, share and make money from cover songs. The partnership will give the MCN’s network artists access to more than three million songs to cover in videos. In return, We Are The Hits will also have rights to all cover songs created through Fullscreen.

CONTENT MEDIA

 
Starz rolled out a multi-platform sampling of the first two episodes of its new original series from LeBron James, Survivor’s Remorse, a week ahead of its official premiere. The samples will be released on Starz.com, through its Twitter handle, YouTube page, Facebook page, STARZ On Demand, Starz Play app and other platforms. The six-ep first season of the comedy will debut Oct. 4 at 9p ET.
 
James Franco
’s NYU school project turned full-length documentary about Saturday Night Live finally hit Hulu Plus over the weekend. Filmed in 2008, Franco based the doc on SNL’s creative process the week leading up to an ep hosted by John Malkovich. The doc hit distribution issues, until Focus Features recently acquired it.
 
VEVO
live-streamed the 2014 Global Citizen Festival over the weekend through a new partnership with the festival distributors Alfred Haber Television, Inc. and Content Media Corporation. The event in New York City featured performances by Jay Z, No Doubt, Carrie Underwood, Tiesto and other special guests and celebrities. The Global Citizens Festival coincides with the UN General Assembly to call world leaders to commit to ending extreme poverty by 2030.
 
The Disney/ABC Television Group re-launched its TV everywhere platform WATCH ABC to add a social media focus. The redesigned version not only dawned a new user interface, but also included social features like shareable video clips with FastShare, personal fan’s social feeds integrated in the Social Lens and backstage live coverage of events on Multi-Cam.

Integral Ad Science announced a new ROI measurement solution, Casual Impact. “Casual Impact introduces and automates the determination of causality in advertising at scale for the first time, allowing us to finally answer the real question that every advertiser wants answered: which of my ad placements are truly making an impact and influencing consumer actions?” said company CEO Scott Knoll.
 
Jivox released its 2014 Benchmark Report: Rising Stars Ad Units, which analyzed more than 2.7 billion impressions to determine the performance of emerging ad formats. “The majority of the advertising world still has no idea that they could double their ROI by simply switching out the old-school ad formats they use,” CEO and Founder Diaz Nesamoney said. The findings include: Standard banner make up a majority of the current digital ad spend even though its proven that higher ROI is hit with interactive ads that engage viewers; viewability matters more than the location or size of an ad format; the top performing IAB Rising Star format are billboards, filmstrip and pushdowns.
