The PGA Tour wants to put a younger face to the sport with help from a new web series pairing professional golfers with YouTube celebs. The show, Clubbed (wt), will be a similar format to Dancing With The Stars, and partner six pros with 12 web stars to mentor and compete in golf games. “PGA Tour has been successful in marketing to the millions of golfers and golf lovers in the over 30 demographic,” Bedrocket CEO Brian Bedol told Cynopsis. “We’re helping the brand reach a younger, untapped audience who shares a similar passion for the sport by creating an original made-for-digital series with YouTube talent young viewers are most interested in.” Clubbed producer Bedrocket sent out a casting call for interested YouTubers; filming will begin at the end of year with the series set to launch in Q1 2015.

Endemol Beyond is enlisting YouTube’s gamer KSI or Olajide Olatunji (more than nine million subs and 1.28 billion views) for a new show called Rule’m Sports. The YT series will produce more than 150 sports pieces over the next year, and pitch KSI against the top athletes in sports like boxing and rugby. “The guys at Endemol Beyond said I was going to have loads of fun, but so far I’ve been knocked about by pro boxers and made to look crazy slow by some top athletes,” KSI told Variety. Endemol Beyond clocks in more than 290 million monthly views, and has a partnership with online beauty guru Michelle Phan.

The Killing
’s Michelle Forbes and Maleficent’s Sharlto Copley will star in Sony PlayStation’s upcoming drama Powers. David Slade (Breaking Bad and Hannibal) will direct the first two of the ten ordered eps of the show. The series, which was previously in development for FX, revolves around a cop who works in the Powers department to pursue criminals with supernatural abilities. Powers hits the PlayStation Network in December.
 
The fourth annual Streamy Awards nominations were announced yesterday. The ceremony honors 47 different digital video categories; new to the nominee categories this year are gaming, beauty, pranks and Vine creators. The ceremony is presented by Coca-Cola and produced by Dick Clark productions and TubeFilter’s Drew Baldwin and Joshua Cohen. It will be held Sept. 7 in Beverly Hills at 7:30p, and live streamed at streamys.org.
 
Defy Media and Break.com announced it will back the positive jokester campaign Prank It FWD in November. The videos generated more than 30 million views and hit its donation goal in less than two weeks when it first debuted on April Fools Day this year. Prank It FWD will continue to benefit DoSomething.org, and viewers can submit their stories to PrankItFWD.com.
 
British TV streaming service Acorn TV added the second exclusive episode, The Labours of Hercules, from the final series of Agatha Christie’s Poirot. The ep will be released on Aug. 25 with Curtain: Poirot’s Last Case. Acorn TV content can be viewed at Acorn.TV and on its Roku channel.
 
Aereo shouldn’t have a chance to argue that it’s a cable company, said a coalition of broadcasters in court papers filed Friday. The streaming service “has been trampling on Plaintiffs’ copyrights for over two years and has collected hundreds of thousands of dollars in subscriber fees while doing so,” broadcasters claim, saying they are “entitled to an injunction protecting their rights.” The Supreme Court ruled against Aereo in June, forcing suspension of service, but it hopes to make the case that it’s a cable company, eligible for a content license that would require it to pay royalties but not the higher fees charged by broadcasters.

Apple took home the Creative Arts Emmy Award for best commercial for last year’s holiday spot, called “Misunderstood.” The ad was created by TBWA\Media Arts Lab and shows viewers what seems like an antisocial teen glued to his iPhone as he spends the holidays with his family. What they discover, however, is that he’s been documenting the entire experience on his iPhone.
