NBC
announced a streaming video partnership with iHeartRadio to premiere the pilot for its new comedy A to Z seven weeks before its linear debut in October. Clear Channel and iHeartRadio will promote the show in radio and digital spots, social media posts and on-air discussions with Ryan Seacrest. The pilot is available at iHeartRadio.com and its radio stations’ websites, NBC.com and app and other platforms. A to Z follows Andrew (The Mindy Project’s Ben Feldman) and Zelda (How I Met Your Mother’s Cristin Milioti) as a couple starting, from the first day they lay eyes on each other.

Netflix continues to beef up its comedy line-up with its latest exclusive deal to acquire comedy specials from Bill Cosby, Chelsea Handler, Jim Jefferies, Bill Burr and Chelsea Peretti. Cosby’s Bill Cosby 77 will premiere on the streaming service Nov. 28, Handler’s Uganda be Kidding Me Live on Oct. 10, Jefferies’ Jim Jefferies: BARE on Aug. 29, Peretti’s One of the Greats on Nov. 14, and Burr’s I’m Sorry You Feel That Way will debut on Dec. 5. Handler recently signed a deal with Netflix for a new talk show to begin in 2016.
 
Comedy Central’s comedian Nikki Glaser is getting cozy with YouTubers and “social-media savvy millennials” in the new series Comedians Crashing Couches. Glaser will sofa surf with Annie Bardonski, Harley Bringel, Jessica Cellona, Brandon Skeie and Phil Wedow and other popular Instagram users. The first of eight episodes launched on CC.com and its YT channel; each ep will also include a “confessional” vlog from Glaser and the featured guest released on CC’s social media platforms.
 
Latino-focused MCN MiTu signed a multi-year pact with Spanish language media company Televisa. The duo will develop and distribute programming with MiTu’s emerging talent. “For more than 60 years Televisa has been producing and providing Spanish-language content for a global audience…we felt it was strategically important to partner with MiTu,” Televisa President Jose Antonia Baston told Variety. MiTu has 43 million global subscribers, 1,300 channel partners and more than 450 million monthly views.

CONTENT MEDIA
 

The Television Academy’s interactive media branch handed out six awards for the 66th annual Emmy Awards on Wednesday. Discovery Channel’s Skywire Live with Nik Wallenda took the biggest honor for multiplatform storytelling. HBO was awarded for its Game of Thrones’ Viewer Guide along with Comcast’s Xfinity X1 set-top box. Pivot’s Hit Record on TV (from actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt) and National Geographic Channel’s Live From Space won kudos in the social TV category. The interactive short film Just a Reflektor, a companion piece to Arcade Fire’s album Reflektor created by AATOAA, Unit 9 and Google Creative Lab, also nabbed an Emmy. StoryTech managing partner and former IMPG co-governor Lori H. Schwartz was was given the Lucy Hood Digerati Digerati Award.
 
In sync with the premiere of Iggy Azalea’s music video for ‘Black Widow,’ MTV released the second episode of House of Style featuring the making of the new vid. The ep spotlights the wardrobe, the martial arts-inspired choreography and the song’s collaboration with pop artist Rita Ora. For the rest of the multi-screen series hosted by Azalea, she will interview other artists, athletes and designers about fashion. The finale will lead into to the Aug. 24 2014 MTV Video Music Awards.

Vimeo updated its Roku app, with a new user interface meant to foster video discovery and reduce the number of clicks it takes to play a vid. The app will also support Vimeo’s purchasing platform Vimeo On Demand that will launch in the fall.
