NEW PROGRAMMING + DEALS

 
Netflix is speeding up its streaming service, thanks to a deal made with AT+T yesterday. "We reached an interconnect agreement with Netflix in May and since then have been working together to provision additional interconnect capacity to improve the viewing experience for our mutual subscribers,” an AT&T spokeswoman said in a statement to Mashable. "We’re now beginning to turn up the connections, a process that should be complete in the coming days." Netflix holds similar agreements with Comcast and Verizon.
 
Paramount Digital Entertainment
and actress Elizabeth Banks are teaming up to create a new digital comedy series, called Resident Advisors. Banks and Pitch Perfect’s Max Handelman will produce the series starring Ryan Hansen (Two Broke Girls), Jamie Chung (Sin City: A Dame to Kill For), Andrew Bachelor (House of Lies) and others. The show will revolve around a college dorm and their resident advisors. Paramount has not yet chosen a distributor.
 
Web video destination Dailymotion announced syndication deals with AOL, Complex Media, DECA, Maker Studios and Whalerock Industries as well as with online cooking show Epic Meal Time and action sports channel Network A. Complex Media will syndicate more than 20 of its shows to the platform, and Network A will provide Garage Tours, Drift Garage and Tuerck’d. Dailymotion reaches 120 million unique visitors a month. 
 

 
CONTENT MEDIA

 
Netflix’s upcoming comedy, Grace and Frankie, landed two new additions to the cast: Brooklyn Decker and Ethan Embry. Decker has appeared in The League and Embry is known for his role in Once Upon Time. They join an impressive group including Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, and Martin Sheen. The series will debut in 2015.
 
YouTube’s top ten most-viewed trailers for Q2 have been released. The videos racked up a total of 98 million views, which were on average 1.43 minutes long. Note: These standings exclude the teaser for the movie adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey, which is already one of the most-viewed trailers of the year, clocking in at 6.6 million views in the U.S and 5.9 million in the UK within 24 hours of its release.

Instagram rolled out a new instant photo message app similar to Snapchat, called Bolt. The app launched in New Zealand, Singapore and South Africa earlier this week, and will soon make its way to U.S. users. Snapchat turned down a $3 billion offer from Facebook (Instagram’s owner) to buy them out earlier this year.

Move over, Darth Vader, Shakira’s spot for Activia just became the most shared ad of all time. The “La La La (Brazil 2014)” World Cup themed spot passed 5,375,756 shares, taking the previous titleholder’s place, VW’s 2011 “The Force” spot that premiered at the Super Bowl with 5,372,945 shares. “Music videos are by far the most shared type of content, so it’s no surprise that brands are now blurring the lines between traditional ads and music videos in order to get themselves seen and heard on social,” said social analytics company Unruly co-founder and COO Sarah Wood.
 
Marketers foresee native advertising as the future for all online advertising, but there’s a ways to go, according to a new study from marketing platform OneSpot and digital agency 614 Group. The survey showed that 69 percent of the 487 U.S. marketing professionals who participated believe it’s a valuable form of advertising, but 47 percent are dissatisfied with their own ability to target the right audience when it came to native advertising content.
