Game, set, mock tennis match? HBO is teaming with Andy Samberg and Murray Miller (writer and co-executive producer of Girls) on 7 Days in Hell, a mockumentary about pro tennis rivals competing in a seven-day match at Wimbledon. Samberg will play superstar bad boy Aaron Williams, while Kit Harington (Game of Thrones) portrays prodigy Charles Lloyd Poole. The all-star cast includes Fred Armisen (Portlandia), Lena Dunham (Girls), Will Forte (Last Man on Earth), Karen Gillan (Selfie), Howie Mandel, Michael Sheen, Mary Steenburgen, June Squibb and Soledad O’Brien.

Anchor Bay Entertainment has partnered with AMC and Republic Records to offer fans of The Walking Dead an exclusive soundtrack with the release of The Walking Dead: The Complete Fourth Season on Blu-ray and DVD. The sets will be made available through Walmart. 

The Television Academy unveiled its plans for this year’s Emmy after-parties: the 2014 Creative Arts Ball on Saturday, August 16 and the 66th Emmy Awards Governors Ball on Monday, August 25. Guests at both soirees, which include all of the year’s nominees and presenters, will experience a "kaleidoscope of color," fusing modern optics and lighting technologies with creative color concepts. "This year’s theme and decor are metaphors for the creative excellence, vibrancy and richness of our industry and this television season," said Governors Ball Committee Chair Russ Patrick.

TV Land‘s revival of Candid Camera has a new co-host. Mayim Bialik (The Big Bang Theory) has been tapped to work alongside Peter Funt, the son of the show’s creator and host, Allen Funt. The series will premiere on Monday, August 11 with a new episode airing from Monday through Thursday that week. Episodes will then move to Tuesday nights.

Andy Dean is stepping down as host of Premiere NetworksAmerica Now on August 8 to run his technology company, ConnectPal.com. Joe Pags, host of The Weekend, will step in as guest host beginning August 11. A full-time replacement will be announced after Labor Day.

Encore Westerns will commemorate the life of film and TV legend James Garner with an all-day marathon on Saturday, July 26, beginning at 8a. It will feature 12 episodes of his hit series Maverick and the films Skin Game, Support Your Local Gunfighter and A Man Called Sledge.

Diane Johnson, CEO of Vancouver-based Descriptive Video Works, and her team have won the Audio Description Project of the American Council of the Blind’s Audio Description Achievement Award  Media. The award recognizes outstanding contributions to the establishment and continued development of significant audio description programs in media.

PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT

Jerry Seinfeld announced a new series of video vignettes motivated by his Crackle series Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, called Single Shots. The show will feature two-minute long vids of past Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee guests discussing one topic that includes both never-before-seen footage and previously aired content. The first "shot" premiered yesterday with Tina Fey, Sarah Silverman and Brian Regan talking about donuts.

COMING UP

Fashion Rocks, a star-studded concert honoring the relationship between fashion and music, returns Tuesday, September 9 at 9p on CBS. Ryan Seacrest will host the live show from Barclays Center in New York City. The evening will feature performances by Afrojack, The Band Perry, Duran Duran, KISS, Miranda Lambert, Jennifer Lopez, Nico & Vinz, Rita Ora, Pitbull and Usher.

History‘s Ice Road Truckers airs its 100th episode on Monday, July 28 at 10p. "Since its premiere in June 2007, these warriors of the ice roads have brought viewers raw, gripping television doing one of the most dangerous jobs in the world. It is extremely fitting that the 100th episode is coinciding with the drivers facing the most brutal winter in centuries – the polar vortex. We are extremely proud to have them be a part of the History family," said Dirk Hoogstra, Executive Vice President and General Manager, History and H2.

The debut of OWN‘s Operation Change, a 10-part documentary series giving viewers unprecedented access to some of the world’s most dangerous, desolate and poverty-stricken places, has been changed. Operation Change: South Africa will now air Monday, August 4 at 9p.

ASPiRE will premiere a new season of ABFF Independent hosted by Omari Hardwick in October. The weekly original series presents the best independent shorts, feature films and documentaries from emerging Black artists. In addition, this fall, the network will presents Historically Black Colleges and Universities live sports events and related series, including six football games, 12 men’s and women’s basketball games, and a new season of the sports highlights show Inside The Game.

RETURNING SERIES

MTV‘s fashion series House of Style, which tours LA’s best vintage stores, is coming back with a new host, hip hop artist Iggy Azalea. Season 8 premieres Monday, August 4 on MTV.com and across the networks’ social media platforms.

Sportsman Channel returns with a full week of Aporkalypse 2014, beginning Monday, August 4 at 7p. The series exposes America’s wild hog epidemic and frontline stories of the battle to contain the problem.

A new U.S. patent has been granted to FourthWall Media, another in a series of patents for its Ad Widgets interactive technology. The technology allows cable operators or any distributor of interactive television commercials to rapidly deploy new interactive ad units with unprecedented reliability, which eliminates the need for testing each individual interactive spot.

  

DISTRIBUTION & CARRIAGE

ASPiRE has launched on Time Warner Cable systems in Texas. Markets covered include San Antonio (channel 185), Austin (channel 185), Corpus Christi (channel 499) and Beaumont (channel 499). The launches bring ASPiRE’s distribution to more than 20 million households.
