The White House is moving to LA. Handed $6.5 million in tax credits by California, Veep is relocating production after four years in Maryland, announced HBO. “Maryland has been home to many vital HBO projects, from The Corner to The Wire to Game Change, and the support has always been extraordinary,” said a net spokesperson. “We look forward to returning with another production in the future.” The tax incentive was part of a new $330 million program intended to bring projects and jobs back to Hollywood.

IN THE NEWS

“When it really matters, you can depend on him,” says the new promo for NBC Nightly News With Lester Holt, which launches tonight. Holt, who has filled in for suspended Brian Williams since February, was named permanent anchor on Thursday.

And the winner of the International Audience Award for comedy at the Monte-Carlo Television Festival is…wait for it…CBS’s How I Met Your Mother, the first time a series won the award after leaving the air. Given to the top-rated shows globally, Audience Awards also went to CBS’s Bold and Beautiful, in the soap opera category, and NCIS for drama.

Also taking trophies at the festival: Best International Comedy Welcome to Sweden, which airs on NBC Stateside, and Steven (Bruce who?) Van Zandt for Outstanding Comedy Actor in Norway’s Lilyhammer, on Netflix.

NBA League Pass plans to offer slimmer packages for the 2015-2016 season. League Pass customers who now pay $200 per season for access to all out-of-market live games will be able to buy individual games, or specific team packages. League Pass is available through pay-TV operators and as a standalone streaming service; details and pricing will be announced in July.

MTV is promoting Scream, premiering Tuesday, June 30, with an interactive online game. “Choose Your Own Murder” positions users in horror movie set-ups, with different options (“Run for the door,” Go out window”) as the game progresses.

The season two finale of Hallmark Channel original scripted series When Calls the Heart drew a 2.1 HH rating and 2.1 total viewers in Live+3, making the net the most-watched at 8p on Saturday, June 13 among HHs and total viewers.

ABC’s Astronaut Wives Club debuted Thursday at 8p to 5.5 million viewers and 1.1/5 among A18-49, according to Nielsen, down from the recent 1.5 debut of the net’s The Whispers but its highest non-sports summer delivery in the hour since August 2013.

Thursday A18-49 Analysis: CBS won the most A18-49 viewers Thursday with 3.5/6, according to final primetime national ratings from Nielsen. A 1.4/6 average for Big Bang Theory and The Odd Couple gave CBS the top spot at 8p, followed by NBC’s Dateline with 1.3/5. CASTING

Russell Tovey (Being Human), Alistair Petrie (Utopia) and Douglas Hodge (Penny Dreadful) have been added to the cast of The Night Manager. The mini-series, co-produced by AMC with BBC One and The Ink Factory, is an adaptation of the John le Carre 1993 novel.

Shalita Grant and Daryl Mitchell have been promoted to season regulars on CBS’s NCIS: New Orleans. Sophomore run of the drama launches Tuesday, September 22.

BRANDS AND ADVERTISING

Disney animated movie Inside/Out opened this weekend after a national TV ad spend, starting in early May, of about $24.4 million, according to iSpot.tv. The week before opening ate up $8.3 million, for 1641 spots. Most ad dollars went to ABC ($4.61 million), while the most airings for an individual show went to Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants (196).

Turner Classic Movies has been added to Sling TV’s “Hollywood Extra” pack. The net joins EPIX, EPIX2, EPIX3, EPIX Drive-In and SundanceTV.

The season two finale of Hallmark Channel original scripted series When Calls the Heart drew a 2.1 HH rating and 2.1 total viewers in Live+3, making the net the most-watched at 8p on Saturday, June 13 among HHs and total viewers.

ABC’s Astronaut Wives Club debuted Thursday at 8p to 5.5 million viewers and 1.1/5 among A18-49, according to Nielsen, down from the recent 1.5 debut of the net’s The Whispers but its highest non-sports summer delivery in the hour since August 2013.

Thursday A18-49 Analysis: CBS won the most A18-49 viewers Thursday with 3.5/6, according to final primetime national ratings from Nielsen. A 1.4/6 average for Big Bang Theory and The Odd Couple gave CBS the top spot at 8p, followed by NBC’s Dateline with 1.3/5. CBS kept the lead at 9p with 1.2/4 for Mom and Mike & Molly, versus .9/3 for Univision’s Lo Imperdoable.  Telemundo’s Senor de los Cielos was first at 10p with 1.1/4; Uni’s Que te Perdone Dios…Yo No was next with .9/3.
