Apple plans to make rapper Dr. Dre "the first billionaire in hip hop" (according to him) when it purchases his electronics and music empire, Beats, in its largest acquisition yet for $3.2 billion. USA Today reports the company was originally started with music producer Jimmy Lovine in 2008, and was ironically meant to be a solution to the poor sound quality from Apple’s iPod and MP3 files. Celebrities like Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber and LeBron James have endorsed the tech in the past.

E! is incorporating a whole slew of digital add-ons to E! News. During the show, the network’s new Instagram Wall will track celebrity Instagram accounts, and rank the Top 200 celebs based on a new E! Social Score rating. E! is also expanding its Love It, Buy It on-air flash sale segment to include brand integrations along with a new ad platform called In Feed that puts partners directly on E!’s newsfeed within its digital platforms. "By combining [Instagram’s] unique view into celebrity generated content with our passion for pop culture, we’re excited to deliver our audiences a truly immersive social content experience," EVP and GM of Digital E! John Najarian said.

CONTENT MEDIA

Netflix will present four new documentary series: Battered Bastards of Baseball on July 11, Mission Blue on Aug. 15, E-Team and Print the Legend. Netflix began distributing docs last year, starting with Academy award nominee The Square. As expected, the streaming service also raised prices, now charging members $8.99 a month (instead of $7.99). However, current members’ plans will not increase for two years.

AMC‘s Breaking Bad spinoff Better Call Saul is taking shape with newest cast members Patrick Fabian (The Newsroom), Rhea Seehorn (Whitney) and Michael Mando (Psych), though Deadline reports the characters they’ll be playing have not yet been revealed. The prequel series will follow Bad lawyer Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) before he crossed paths with Walter White (Bryan Cranston). The show will debut in November, and will stream exclusively on Netflix after its first season finale.

Machinima released documentary The Art of the Game on its Twitch and Xbox platforms in advance of its YouTube launch. The doc focuses on students studying at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco while they try to get jobs in the gaming industry. The film was streamed on Twitch and through its Xbox 360 and Xbox One apps on Friday, and is available on Machinima’s YT page today.
