The Dodo unveiled its first-ever content slate of new, original and returning programming, which features uplifting and inspiring stories from the animal kingdom. Three all-new unscripted series include Ruff Life with Lee Asher, which follows the viral dog dad and his nine rescue dogs; Wild Hearts, which gives an up-close view of wild animals and their bonds with each other and their human caretakers; and Cody the Tiny Alpaca, showcasing what it’s like living with a tiny, princess alpaca.

CBS’s The Young and the Restless will say goodbye to longtime cast member Kristoff St. John in a four-episode arc April 23-26. Shemar Moore (S.W.A.T.) will reprise his role as the brother of St. John’s character. CBS’s The Talk will also remember the actor, who died February at age 52, in a special segment on April 26.
Publicis Groupe announced plans to acquire data-driven marketing agency Epsilon for $4.4 billion. Publicis says the deal will enable it to offer a “unique end-to-end service,” and result in the growth of its existing business and the opening of new opportunities. As far as the steep price tag, Publics Groupe Supervisory Board Chairman Maurice Levy said, “For our shareholders the transaction, which was not planned, has great merits from a financial point of view.”
Dave Morgan, founder and CEO of Simulmedia, resigned from the board of the Advertising Research Foundation. Morgan said instead of the “incremental improvements” he sees the ARF focusing on, the industry needs to be “bold and singularly focused on helping advertisers prove that advertising works and fixing its measurement in a world that has rapidly become digital and omni-channel.”
Vimeo acquired startup Magisto, part of an effort to offer more creation and editing tools. The companies said they will develop “entirely new short-form video creation capabilities for the Vimeo platform, with the goal of helping any individual or business tell their stories with professionalism and ease.”
Starz apologized for the actions of an overzealous third party that apparently took copyright enforcement too seriously, misusing Digital Millennium Copyright Act safe harbor provisions. After it drew criticism for taking down tweets about TV show piracy, the net stated, “The techniques and technologies employed in these efforts are not always perfect, and as such it appears that in this case, some posts were inadvertently caught up in the sweep that may fall outside the DMCA guidelines. That was never our intention and we apologize to those who were incorrectly targeted.”
Hackers that stole login credentials from a Microsoft customer support agent had access to email accounts from Outlook, MSN and Hotmail from January 1-March 28 and were able to read email content, said Microsoft in an amended statement. At first the company say attackers could not read emails; the statement was corrected to say hackers could read full email content for about 6% of affected Outlook users. Microsoft warned people to watch for phishing emails, and change their password.
Entries are now open for the Royal Television Society’s Young Technologist of the Year Award 2019. The award recognizes individuals in the UK who are just starting out in their technology careers in the broadcast industry. Winner gets an all-expenses paid trip to Amsterdam-based industry event IBC 2019.
About 25% of households are familiar with what VR headsets are, according to Parks Associates study, “Virtual Reality: The Evolving Ecosystem,” but only 8% of households own one. “Sixty-two percent of US broadband households play video games, and while gamers are a passionate market segment, they can be limited in scope, which has stalled adoption of VR to a wider audience,” said Billy Nayden, research analyst at Parks Associates. “There has been some notable video content developed for VR…but overall lack of quality, non-gaming content is inhibiting broader adoption.”
Sinking Ship Entertainment picked up the Amazon kids’ series Just Add Magic for international distribution. DHX and Yoopa in Canada and Discovery Kids Latin America will begin rolling out the series this spring and early summer.

Attracting more than 12.2 million total viewers since it premiered on January 14, the season ranked as the #1 series on HGTV among W25-54 during its run and helped HGTV rank as a top 10 cable network among W25-54 on Monday nights. 
Tiger WoodsMasters win on Sunday, which occurred early due to weather issues, scored a 7.7/21 in metered markets for CBS, down 11% versus last year – but the best early morning number for a golf match on any network in 34 years.
