IN THE NEWS

Cinemax cancelled The Knick. Clive Owen had previously said he was done with the series. “After a critically acclaimed two-season run of The Knick on Cinemax, we will not be going forward with additional episodes of the series,” said In a Kary Antholis, president, HBO miniseries and Cinemax programming. “Despite our pride in and affection for the series, as well as our respect for and gratitude towards Steven Soderbergh and his team, we have decided to return Cinemax to its original primetime series fare of high-octane action dramas, many of which will be internationally co-produced.”

Mario Lopez is joining the game show circuit as host of CBS’s Candy Crush, based on the mobile game franchise. “Mario Lopez is a perfect fit to host Candy Crush. As a big fan of the game and a competitor by nature, his larger-than-life enthusiasm matches the size and scope of our show,” said EP Matt Kunitz

FOX is cutting Lucifer’s Season 2 run short and saving the final four episodes for Season 3. The move trims the show’s sophomore tally to 18 episodes and moves its finale to Monday, May 29.

ESPN announced that Suzy Kolber, Samantha Ponder and Trey Wingo will be the new NFL studio hosts for the 2017 season. The trio are replacing veteran Chris Berman, who has been with the network since 1979, and announced in January that he would be scaling back his role.

Telemundo partnered with Atencion Atencion, a children’s entertainment and education company founded by teachers and music therapists, to provide five seasons of children’s content, available now on Telemundo on Demand. The deal marks the first time that children’s programming is available on Telemundo’s VOD service.
