03/20/14: Comcast: Xfinity TV Go adds 18 more live channels

Comcast added 18 live channels to its outside-the-home streaming Xfinity TV Go app and site. The service now includes TBS, TNT, truTV, USA Network, Bravo, E!, Syfy, mun2, Oxygen, Sprout, A&E, History, Food Network, Cooking Channel, DIY Network, HGTV, Travel Channel and Starz. The additions mean a total of 53 live channels are now offered to subscribers at xfinity.com/TV and its app for Android and iOS devices.

Conde Nast Entertainment rolled out its first digital sports channel, Golf Digest. Available on its site and on YouTube, GD will include The Hot List equipment review, Break Bad Scores, a how-to show from golf instructors called Nerve Wrackers and #GolfSecrets with Ben Crane hosted by the PGA golfer and YT comedian. CNE is also working on a female-based show on "golf’s sexiest shots" and the Hungover Caddy column animated series. Callaway is the launch sponsor, which will include pre-roll ads and a native-ad series called Callaway Talks.


Netflix has acquired Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin‘s original comedy series Grace and Frankie. The 13 half-hour episode season follows nemeses Grace and (Fonda) and Frankie (Tomlin) coming together under very unusual circumstances. The two actresses first worked together in the film 9 to 5 more than two decades ago.

Bedrocket multiplatform property Official Comedy launched the second season of Fixing Joe, starring comedian Joe Matarese. Three episodes (of a total of ten) premiered on officialcomedy.com yesterday.

Telemundo multiplatform studio Fluency announced a new English-language sci-fi film called ISA that mixes TV and social media stars like Sabi (a musician with more than 83 million views) and Eric Ochoa (a comedian with 1.3 million YouTube followers). The show is sponsored by Samsung Telecommunications America, and will be distributed on Syfy and mun2 in June as well as through digital, mobile and VOD platforms. Logo TV kicked off a non-sports fan tournament in spirit of March Madness yesterday, called the Gayest Cartoon Character of All Time. The contest will have 32 of animated "royalty’s queerest characters" battle it out in brackets voted by fans at NewNowNext.com and TheBackLot.com. Winners will be announced on-air during RuPaul’s Drag Race on April 7.

ChoiceStream debuted new one-to-one advertising technology called cs.Dynamic Solution. "In the world of programmatic advertising when everything is in real-time, it’s becoming increasingly important to reach consumers with great creative that is both personalized and relevant," ChoiceStream’s CEO Eric Bosco told Cynopsis. As of today, movie streaming service Popcornflix and FrightPix from Screen Media Ventures is available in Canada. The app can be found on Popcornflix.com, as well as Google TV, Roku, iOS, and a new Android mobile app.

"Keep in mind that there are only two KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) measured in digital campaigns that actually make their way into the boardroom — ROI measured by growth of a qualified audience and ROI measured by revenue, which makes the necessity of a great activation strategy paramount," CEO of LockerDome Gabe Lozano said. Fox Sports promoted Pete Vlastelica to Executive Vice President of Digital. Vlastelica joined Fox Sports in 2010, and was recently named one of Sports Business Journal’s Forty Under 40.

Digital Exchange Lab has opened a Chicago office, including an array of new hires including Frank Guzzardo as Vice President of Sales  East and Nikki Hawke the new Marketing Director of North America. Guzzardo was most recently CRO at C3 Metrics, and Hawke was previously lead marketing and communications at JUICE Mobile.
