Apple will officially get into the TV business this fall. The tech giant plans to launch a 25-channel streaming service with ABC, CBS and Fox. For $30-$40 a month, Apple device owners will be able to stream live TV; the service will not include NBC channels. Apple announced last week that the HBO Now a la carte service will debut on Apple devices in April.
Woven Digital online culture publication Uproxx premiered its first daily news series, The Desk. The three-to-five minute show will be recorded Monday through Friday at noon PT, and air later that day. Uproxx debuted its first series Luminaries, which highlights technological innovators; the first episode has been viewed by more than 8.4 million people since its January release. Woven also owns BroBible and sells advertising for partners TheChiv, NiceKicks and Cheezburger as well.

Crown Media Family Networks is getting into the production and advertising business. Crown Media Productions will create original content for its brands, including the Hallmark Channel, across multiple channels. The new division’s head Michelle Vicary said that they expect to produce up to six TV films this year under the Hallmark channel, and plan to double that number in 2016. The new ad department, Crown Connectivity, will also launch to integrate advertising across linear, digital and social platforms.

MOBILE GAMING + APPS
Super Mario and Donkey Kong are coming to mobile devices. Nintendo is finally making the leap into mobile gaming via a new partnership with Japanese mobile game maker DeNA. The deal will give Nintendo a ten percent stake in DeNA, which will simultaneously take a 1.2 percent stake in Nintendo, both at a $182 million cost. Nintendo will create new games along with its classic games.
CBS Local Media unveiled Pingo, a new photo gaming app for iOS devices that gives users prizes for taking pictures. Players can submit photo boards by entering sports, music, pop culture and entertainment challenges, including board themes featuring CBS’ The Amazing Race and The Odd Couple, former wrestling world champion Taz as well as Charli XCX and Ne-Yo.
