CBS and Bell Media struck a long-term content licensing agreement for Showtime in Canada. It’s official: NBC sold all its Super Bowl ad space. It took a while – Fox was sold out in 2014 almost two months before kick-off – but “we came through with flying colors,” said EVP of ad sales for NBCUniversal news and sports groups Seth Winter. The net raked in a record average $4.5 million per 30-second spot, not “the easiest exercise” in his career, acknowledged Winters.

Here’s a twist: Dish Network is using a “Reverse AutoHop” feature on Super Bowl Sunday that will allow customers to skip the game and watch just the commercials. “We’ve decided to flip our user-enabled ad-skipping feature on its head so customers can watch the ads uninterrupted the next day when everyone is talking about them,” said Vivek Khemka, SVP of product management.
