Periscope users, feel free to start jostling. Twitter’s live-streaming app has announced an integration with the action-camera company GoPro, allowing users to stream footage directly from GoPro cameras. There are hardware limitations, at least as of yet: Users need both a GoPro HERO 4 camera and an iPhone. Periscope competitor Meerkat launched a similar GoPro integration last year.
Afrostream, an SVOD service specializing in bringing African American, African, and Afro-Caribbean series and movies to French-speaking audiences, has reached a new multi-year pact with ITV Studios Global Entertainment. The distributor will license Cockroaches, its new sitcom, to the streaming service.
Apparently YouTube reaction videos are big business. That’s why Fine Brothers Entertainment, the creators of the YouTube React franchises, are looking to have their fans create their own videos. Their newly announced service, React World, will offer fans assets, graphics, and “bibles” for eleven different formats. Eventually, Fine Bros says it will launch a new designated YouTube channel for React World. Learn more here.
In two separate deals, Endemol Shine UK acquired the production house Electric Robin and the digital talent management company OP Talent. Electric Robin specializes in short and branded content, while OP Talent represents numerous UK-based online influencers. Endemol announced the acquisitions in a release.
Viacom Velocity, Viacom’s marketing and creative content arm, announced that it is partnering with the technology platform Canvs. Canvs specializes in measuring and interpreting emotionality in language. With the new partnership, Viacom Velocity aims to use the Canvs platform to “measure consumers’ emotional reactions to marketing campaigns,” according to a release from the company.
Grom Social, a social media network directed toward kids and teens, has reached an analytics partnership with the UK market research firm Dubit. The companies will create a research platform, used to analyze Grom’s membership base and create surveys for agencies and advertisers. You can learn more about the partnership here.
Yet another Sundance Film Festival acquisition for Amazon. The company has picked up North American distribution rights to Manchester By the Sea, a new drama directed by Kenneth Lonergan and starring Casey Affleck. The film, which has been garnering top-notch critical reviews, didn’t come cheap: Amazon reportedly spent $10 million for the rights. The company will release the film in theaters, after which the movie will debut on the Amazon Prime streaming service.

OTT + SVOD
Even small film distributors can gun for a devoted OTT audience. IndiePix Films, a New York-based distributor specializing in international indies, has launched a new SVOD service. IndiePix Unlimited is available via apps for both Android and iOS, as well as on the web and features over 400 movies, over 75% of which are exclusively licensed to IndiePix, according to the company. The service costs $5.99 per month.
Last May, Woody Allen told Deadline that agreeing to make a TV series for Amazon was something “I have regretted every second since I said OK.” Maybe hanging out with Hannah Montana will make the process more bearable. Deadline revealed that Miley Cyrus will star in the series alongside Allen and Elaine May. All six half-hour episodes of the series, which is still untitled, will be written and directed by Allen.

Snapprefs noticed what appeared to be some impending app updates hidden in Snapchat’s code. Those updates include stickers within Snapchat’s chat interface, as well as improved video and audio calling features. Snapchap hasn’t publicly commented on the story. You can learn more here.
DIGITAL CONTENT CREATORS
Matt Bellassai is done whining. The 25-year-old Internet comedian, who stars in BuzzFeed’s Whine About It web series, is stepping away from the series and moving to the next phase of his career. Bellasai has signed with the talent agent CAA for representation in all areas, and says he’s looking into new projects, including live comedy, humor writing, and television. The news was first reported by Variety.
Logan Paul’s ambitions continue to extend far beyond Vine. The social media star has written a new comedy film, which he’ll also star in. The news was reported by Adweek as part of a wide-ranging profile of Paul. The movie, titled Airplane Mode, is fully financed and heading to pre-production. Plot details are scant, though Paul calls the film “an Expendables with Internet stars.”
StyleCaster, part of the SheKnows Media network of sites, announced a brand relaunch. The site now bills itself as “the de facto fashion, beauty, and lifestyle stop for women looking to lead a more stylish life,” according to a release. The changes include a new logo, a site redesign, shopping modules, and expanding editorial, sales, and marketing staff. You can see the relaunched site here.

The ListenFirst Television Interest (TVI) Rating (TM) is a standardized measurement of the most buzzed-about TV programs on linear TV and streaming services. A complement to ListenFirst’s other syndicated data products (such as the ListenFirst Digital Audience Rating – TV), the metrics included in the rating are the purest form of showing interest digitally, since they’re organic actions that are largely unaffected by paid media. Programs that surface on the TVI leaderboards are the most hashtagged on Facebook, Google+, and Tumblr, as well as most searched for on Wikipedia (used as a proxy for organic search volume).

Source: ListenFirst. The TVI Rating aggregates metrics that measure organically generated activity by fans of the TV show. The metric includes total volume of official hashtag mentions on Facebook, Google+, and Tumblr, along with Wikipedia page views (as a proxy for organic search volume) for a show as a percentage of the total volume of the same activities for all shows.
So that’s who she is. A day after the first reports that Twitter was on the verge of hiring a prominent female exec as Chief Marketing Officer, the company has made the choice public. The role will be filled by Leslie Berland, who most recently served as the EVP of Global Advertising, Marketing and Digital Partnerships at American Express. The announcement makes for quite a change of pace from Monday, when Twitter announced that several VP’s had left the company.
Speaking of which, one of Twitter’s departing execs, VP of Global Media Katie Stanton, already has an interim replacement. VP of Commerce Nathan Hubbard will fill the role, at least for the time being.
