01/12/18: SiriusXM unveiled its programming plans for the upcoming Barstool Radio channel

SiriusXM detailed programming plans for Barstool Radio, set to launch on Jan. 17 and will serve as January 17, as the radio home for Barstool’s approach to covering sports, men’s lifestyle, popular culture and more. The programming slate will include live original Barstool programming every weekday, plus select content from Barstool’s popular lineup of podcasts including Pardon My Take, Laces Out, KFC Radio, I Am Rapaport and others. Call-in shows will include: The Barstool Radio Show with Dave Portnoy and Kevin “KFC” Clancy (weekdays, 4-6p), The Heartland Radio Show with Pat McAfee (weekdays, 10a-1p), and The Evening Yak (weekdays, 6-7p).

The NFL once again booked its London plans, unveiling the trio of games that will be played in the city next season, beginning on Oct. 14 with the Seahawks/Raiders from Tottenham’s new stadium. Other matchups will see the Eagles/Jaguars and Titans/Chargers in weeks seven and eight. “We continue to be very excited by the growth of the NFL in the UK,” said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. “The fans have demonstrated outstanding support and passion for the NFL over the past 11 seasons and we look forward to some great games in London this year. TNT’s Players Only franchise – with former NBA stars serving in all broadcast roles – is set for a return for season two on Jan. 23. The weekly live game series tips off with a doubleheader featuring the Cavaliers/Spurs at 8p, followed by the Celtics/Lakers at 10:30p. New this year will be the addition of Shaquille O’Neal, who expands his studio analyst role to now include Tuesday and Thursday nights. Caron Butler will also be a new addition to the Players Only roster as an on-site reporter. Greg Anthony serves as primary host/play-by-play, with analysts Kevin McHale and Richard “Rip” Hamilton for the early game while Brent Barry (primary host/play-by-play), analysts Grant Hill and Derek Fisher, with reporter Butler take the call for the late one.
Canada’s TSN announced its 2018 MLS on TSN regular season broadcast schedule, serving up 75 games featuring Canadian teams, including every match of Toronto FC, The lineup also includes every Vancouver Whitecaps FC match, and 12 Montreal Impact matches, as well as a slate of games featuring U.S.-based teams. CTV is on deck to carry nine Saturday afternoon games featuring Canadian teams from mid-March until mid-May. The action kicks off on opening weekend as Toronto FC kick off their season as defending MLS Cup champions from BMO Field against Columbus Crew SC on March 3 at 12:30p.

The United States Army filed a challenge with the U.S. Trademark Trial and Appeal Board with a claim that the Vegas Golden Knights name is associated with the military branch, according to ESPN. In the filing, the Army says the NHL team “has chosen and used a similar black+gold/yellow+white color scheme on uniforms, marketing, advertisements and its hockey arena, mimicking the opposer’s colors and further adding to the likelihood of confusion of the public.” “We strongly dispute the Army’s allegations that confusion is likely between the Army Golden Knights parachute team and the Vegas Golden Knights major-league hockey team,” the team said in a statement Thursday.
After locking in a deal with UFC, beer brand Modela Especial is now tapping a new partnership with UFC heavyweight champion, Stipe Miocic. This deal marks the beer brand’s first partnership with a UFC fighter. Modelo and Miocic’s alliance is slated to include digital and social content, as well as a TV spot.
Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic inked a global footwear deal with Asics, ending his association with adidas. “I’m excited to be working with Asics,” said Djokovic. “They exceeded my expectations to ensure the best possible technology and meet my needs as a player. ESPN Audio launched a new podcast “Sports? with Katie Nolan,” which will run weekly with guests that include sports fans from comedy, film, television, and more. The first guest as Adam Pally, the actor, comedian and writer who is most widely known for starring as Max Blum in the ABC comedy series Happy Endings and as Dr. Peter Prentice in The Mindy Project. “I’m excited to get back to podcasting because it’s such an authentic platform that allows me to talk freely about sports and the things that interest me as a fan in a way that other sports programming often doesn’t,” said Nolan. “The question mark in the name is there to indicate that, like most conversations in the real world, we will inevitably wander off topic into things that interest me or my guests. I look forward to bringing listeners along with me on this convoluted journey through my brain.”
In addition to seeing a rise of 18% over its opener last year on FS1, Monster Energy Supercross saw digital spikes as well. The streaming Supercross pregame show Race Day Live on Supercross Live drew its largest show ever this past Saturday with 283,000 views,. Meanwhile, the brand reports 1.7 million twitter impressions on race day on Jan. 6 in addition to a 10 million Facebook reach in past seven days.

The Overwatch League debuted with a bang on Wednesday, as day one of the inaugural season drew peak viewership on Twitch of 441,243 viewers across English, French, and Korean streams, ESPN reports. Meanwhile, across the telecast of over six hours, the stream stayed averaged over 300,000 viewers during the span, not counting numbers from MLG and other in-house platforms.

FlyQuest Sports is adding Snickers to the menu, announcing a deal with the candy brand to serve as the Official Chocolate of the team. Snickers will reportedly be present across all FlyQuest teams and will have an onsite presence both in the Team House as well as a presence at fan activations throughout the year.
