The allegation by two writers that Fox comedy New Girl was based on a script they wrote was soundly rejected by a U.S. District Court judge. “No reasonable jury could conclude that there are substantial similarities in the plot, sequence of events, characters, mood, pace, setting, theme or dialogue between Square One and New Girl,” wrote Judge Stephen V. Wilson, granting a summary judgment to Fox and others in a copyright lawsuit. Season five of New Girl premieres tonight.

Time Warner Cable added 32,000 pay-TV subscribers in 2015, reporting its best year ever for customer growth. “Ordinarily we wouldn’t announce subscriber results until our earnings release, but given our results, I couldn’t wait to thank the team for its outstanding performance,” said TWC chairman and CEO Rob Marcus. “We’re especially pleased that we were able to add residential video customers for the first time in nine years.”
